yadyogādandhavadviśvaṃ saṃsāre bhramadiṣyate |

sā kṛpāvaśagaiḥ pāpā sthirasiddhirapāsyate ||



iha pare sakalapadārthasthairyaprasādhanārthaṃ pratyakṣamanumānamarthāpattiṃ(ca) pramāṇānyācakṣate | tathā hi sa evāyaṃ ghaṭasphaṭikādiriti pratyabhijñākhyaṃ pratyakṣamudīyamānaṃ sthairyamutthāpayati | na cedamapramāṇamabhighātavyam | aprāmāṇyaṃ hi bhavadaprāmāṇyakāraṇopapattyā vā bhavet, prāmāṇyalakṣaṇavirahād vā | yadyādyaḥ pakṣaḥ kimaprāmāṇyakāraṇam, mithyātvamajñānaṃ saṃśayo vā | na tāvadatra mithyātvam | mithyātvaṃ hi tadviṣaye bādhakapratyayād vā hetūtthadoṣato vā saṃbhāvyeta | na tāvad bādhagandho'pi saṃbhavati, deśakālanarāntareṣvapyasaṃbhavāt | na cānavagatāpi bādhā kadācidapi bhaviṣyatīti śaṅkā yuktimatī, nirbījaśaṅkānupapatteḥ |



avaśyaṃ śaṅkayā bhāvyaṃ niyāmakamapaśyatām |



iti dattāvakāśā saṃśayapiśācī labdhaprasarā na kvacinnāstīti nāyaṃ kvacitpravarteta | antataḥ snigdhānnapānopayoge'pi maraṇadarśanena sarvatra śaṅkānivṛtteḥ | tasmāt prāmāṇikalokayātrāmanupālayatā yathādarśanameva śaṅkanīyaṃ nādṛṣṭapūrvamapi | yaduktaṃ kārikāyāṃ



nāśaṅkā niṣpramāṇikā |



iti | bṛhaṭṭīkāyāmapi

utprekṣeta hi yo mohādajñātamapi bādhakam |

sa sarvavyavahāreṣu saṃśayātmā kṣayaṃ vrajet ||

kṣaṇabhaṅgasādhanaṃ bādhakamasyeti cet | na | anumānasya paramparayāpi pratyakṣapūrvakatvāt pratyakṣaṃ pradhānam | prādhānyāccānumānasya bādhakam | na tvanumānamasya | pratyakṣāntaraṃ tu bādhakaṃ bhavati | yathā sarpādipratyayasya rajvādipratyakṣam| taccātra na saṃbhavati |



nanu pratyakṣe'pi bādhake kasmānna bhavati parasparapratibandhena dvayorapyapratyakṣatā | na | arthakriyāsamarthavastuviṣayāviṣayatvena samānatvābhāvādekasya pratyakṣābhāsatvāditi na sadviṣayatvaṃ bādhakapratyayānmithyātvam | nāpi hetūtthadoṣattaḥ, deśakālanarāntare'rthavisaṃvādāt | nāpyajñānamaprāmāṇyakāraṇamatrāsti, pratyabhijñānasaṃvedanasaṃbhavāt | na ca saṃśayaḥ | na hi tadevedaṃ syād vā na veti sphaṭikādiṣūdayati matiḥ,kiṃ tu tadevedaṃ sphaṭikādikamiti nirastavibhramāśaṅkā | tannāprāmāṇyakāraṇopapattyā pratyabhijñānasyāprāmāṇyam | nāpi lakṣaṇakṣayāt | yadeva hi utpannamasandigdhamaduṣṭakāraṇajanyaṃ deśakālanarāntareṣvabādhitaṃ ca tadeva pramāṇamiti naḥ siddhāntaḥ | taduktam



tasmād dṛḍhaṃ yadutpannaṃ na visaṃvādamṛcchati |

jñānāntareṇa vijñānaṃ tatpramāṇaṃ pratīyatām ||



tathā bṛhaṭṭīkāpi

tatrāpūrvārthavijñānaṃ niścitaṃ bādhavarjitam |

aduṣṭakāraṇārabdhaṃ pramāṇaṃ lokasaṃmatam ||



iti | etacca lakṣaṇamuktanyāyena pratyabhijñāne'pi saṃbhavatīti pramāṇamevedam | nanvidamekameva na bhavati, kāraṇabhedāt, viṣayabhedāt, svabhāvavirodhācca | tathā hi sa iti saṃskārakāryam, ayamiti cendriyakāryam | na ca kāraṇabhede'pi kāryābhedo viśvavaicitryāhetukatvaprasaṅgāt | tathā satyapi sphaṭikaḥ sphaṭika iti vyapadeśābhede pūrvadeśakālasaṃbandhāparadeśakālasaṃbandhābhyāṃ viaruddhadharmābhyāṃ yogāt sphaṭikaḥ pūrvāparakālayorbhidyata iti viṣayabhedo vaktavyaḥ | tathā sa iti parokṣam, ayamiti sākṣātkāraḥ | na cānayoḥ svabhāvaviruddhayordahanatuhinayoriva śakyā śakreṇāpyekatā āpādayitum, trailokasyaikyaprasaṅgāt | na cāsya prāmāṇyam, vikalpatvenāvastunirbhāsitvāt,smārtādaviśeṣācca | tasmāt pratyabhijñā ekatvaṃ sthāpayati bhāvānāmiti manorathamātram ||



atrocyate | ekamevedaṃ pratyabhijñānaṃ samākhyātam | yadyapīndriyaṃ kevalamasamartham, yadyapi saṃskāramātram, saṃskārasadhrīcīnaṃ tu indriyaṃ bhāvayiṣyati pratyabhijñānam, tadbhāvābhāvānuvidhānāt pratyabhijñābhāvābhāvayoḥ | na hi nājījanad bījamātramaṅkuramiti mṛdādisahitamapi na janayati | atha bhavatu deśakālayostatsaṃsargayorvā parasparanānātvam, na tadavacchinnasya padmarāgasya, tasya tābhyāṃ tatsaṃsargābhyāṃ cānyatvāt ||



tato'nyatve tatsaṃsargayoḥ kutastadīyatvamiti cet | svabhāvādeveti saṃsargaparīkṣāyāṃ nipuṇataramupapādayiṣyate | na ca svabhāvavirodhaḥ, anumānasyāpyanekatvaprasaṅgāt | tadapi hi pratyakṣamapratyakṣaṃ ca, avikalpo vikalpaśca, asamāropaḥ samāropaśca | svānubhavāvasthāpitābhedasya svarūpatadgrāhyabhedāpekṣayā pratyakṣādīnāmavirodha iti cet | na, ihāpi sāmyāt | na khalvetadapi vijñānaṃ tattedantādhikaraṇamekamābhyāmanuraktaṃ sphaṭikaṃ gocarayadabhinnaṃ nānubhūyate nāvasīyate vā | ekatve'pi ca vastunastadanurañjakatattedantābhedāpekṣayā pratyakṣatāparokṣate na virotsyete, sahasaṃbhavāt, vijñānaikatvasya ca pramāṇasiddhatvāt | na ca sa iti pūrvadeśakālasaṃsargo'yamiti ca sannihitadeśakālasaṃsargaṃ ekasya virudhyate, yato yuktaṃ yatpadmarāgasya svarūpe paricchidyamāne tadabhāvo vyavacchidyata iti tadavyavacchede tatsvarūpāparicchedāt svapracyutivyavacchedyasvabhāvatvāt padmarāgabhāvasya tadanavacchede tatparicchedānupapatteḥ ||



kasmāt punastadanye puṣparāgādayo vyavacchidyante | tadabhāvāvinābhāvāditi cet | sa eva kutaḥ | pratyakṣeṇa kadācidapi puṣparāgapadmarāgayostādātmyānupalambhāditi cet | yatra tarhi tatastādātmyapratītiḥ, na tatra tadavinābhāvaḥ | samasti ca so'yaṃ padmarāga iti deśakālāvasthānugatamekaṃ padmarāgamavabhāsayantī sākṣātkāravatī pratītiḥ | na vikalparūpatayāsyā aprāmāṇyam, abhilāpasaṃsargapratibhāsatvaprāmāṇyayoravirodhāt | na cedaṃ smārtam, adeśakālāvasthāvato'yaṃ deśakālāvasthānugatatvenādhikyāditi ||



atha keśakuśakadalīstambādau satyapi bhede pratyabhijñānamutpannamiti cet | utpadyatāṃ ko doṣaḥ | kimanena pratipāditaṃ bhavati | kiṃ pratyabhijñāyāḥ sādhāraṇānaikāntikatvam, atha śabdasāmyādubhayorapyaprāmāṇyam, uta saṃśayāpādanamātram | prathamaḥ pakṣo'nabhyupagamādeva nirastaḥ | na hīyamanumānatvenopanyastā | anumānatve'pyabādhitatvāditi viśeṣaṇe na doṣa iti pratipādayiṣyāmaḥ | nāpi dvitīyaḥ pakṣaḥ, dṛṣṭāntamātrataḥ sādhyasiddherayogāt | keśoṇḍukādiviṣayasya cakṣurvijñānasyāpyaprāmāṇye ghaṭādipratyakṣasyāprāmāṇyaprasaṅgāt | saṃśayamātraṃ tu vyavahārocchedakatvānnāśrayaṇīyamevati pratipāditamiti na tṛtīyo'pio pakṣaḥ ||



kiṃ ca keśādau yadi pratyabhijñā vyabhicāriṇo, kāryakāraṇapratītiḥ kiṃ na vyabhicāriṇī | yā vyabhicāriṇo sā kāryakāraṇapratītireva na bhavatīti cet | yadyevaṃ yā visaṃvādinī sā pratyabhijñaiva na bhavati tadābhāsatvāditi samānam | pratyabhijñānasya ca sati prāmāṇye'numānādiṣvanantarbhāve pratyakṣataiva, saṃskārasahāyendriyānvayavyatirekānuvidhāyitvācca | satsaṃprayoge satīndriyāṇāṃ bhāvācca | tadiyaṃ pratyabhijñā anekadeśakālāvasthāsaṃbaddhamekaṃ sphaṭikādikaṃ gocarayantī sthairyaṃ vyavasthāpayati ||



tathānumānato'pi sthiratāsiddhiḥ | prayogaḥ - vivādādhyāsitaḥ sa evāyaṃ sphaṭikaṃ ityādipratyabhijñāpratyayo yathārthaḥ, abādhitapratyayatvāt | yāvānabādhitapratyayaḥ sa sarvo yathārtha upalabdhaḥ | yathā svasaṃvedanapratyayaḥ | abādhitaścāyam | tasmāttatheti | abādhitatvaṃ ca parodbhāvitakṣaṇikatvasādhanabādhakoddhārānniśceyam ||



athāparaḥ prayogaḥ | vivādādhyāsitā bhāvāḥ pūrvāparakālayorekasvabhāvāḥ , abādhitapratyabhijñayā pratyabhijñāyamānatvāt | yadyadabādhitapratyabhijñayā pratyabhijñāyate tatsarvamabhinnam | yathā yastvayā dṛṣṭo nīlo'rthaḥ sa eva mayā dṛṣṭa iti nīlo'rthaḥ pratyabhijñāyate | tathā caite bhāvāḥ | tasmāttatheti | pūrvaṃ pratyayasya dharmitā, adhunā bhāvānāmiti viśeṣaḥ |



kiṃ ca sahetukatvādvināśasya sthairya siddham | prayogaḥ -vivādāspadībhūtā bhāvā yathāsvaṃ vināśahetusannidheḥ prāṅ na vināśinaḥ, sahetukavināśatvāt | yadyaddhetukaṃ tattadasannidhau na bhavati | yathā vahnyādyabhāve dhūmādiḥ | sahetukavināśāścāmī bhāvāḥ | tasmāttatheti | sahetukavināśatvaṃ ca ghaṭasyāgnidhūmayoriva pratyakṣānupalambhato mudgaravināśayorapi kāryakāraṇabhāvasiddhau siddham | na ca vināśahetorasāmarthyavaiyarthyābhidhānamucitam, aṅkurādihetorapi tathātvaprasaṅgāt | śakyaṃ hi vaktumarthasyābhaviṣṇutāyāmasamartho janmahetuḥ, bhaviṣṇutāyāṃ vyartha iti | api ca akṣaṇikāḥ santaḥ, kāraṇavattvāt | yat kāraṇavattadakṣaṇikam | yathā bhāvavināśaḥ | kāraṇavantaśceme santaḥ | tasmādakṣaṇikā iti |



kāraṇavattvasya sādhyaviparyaye vṛttiśaṅkā vināśasya sahetukatvameva nivartayatīti prasiddhavyāptikāt kāraṇavattvādakṣaṇikatvasiddhiriti ||



tathā śaṅkaraḥ sthirasiddhau prāha | notpattyanantaravināśī bhāvaḥ, prameyatvāt, vastuvyāvṛttivaditi | avidyamānavipakṣatvādanvayyeva hetuḥ | prameyatvasya kṣaṇikatvena virodhābhāvāt sandigdhavyatirekitvamiti cet | na khalu kṣaṇikatve kasyacitprameyatvaṃ sidhyati, kṣaṇasthitidharmaṇaḥ pramāṇakāle'pātāt | atītasya ca prameyatve'tiprasaṅgāditi |



evameva prayogamupastuvan trilocano'pyāha | akṣaṇikāḥ sarvabhāvāḥ, prameyatvāt |yat pramīyate tadakṣaṇikam | yathā bhāvavināśaḥ | prameyāśca sarvabhāvāḥ | tasmādakṣaṇikā iti |



asiddho dṛṣṭāntadharmīti cet | na | svakāraṇakalāpādutpannavato bhāvasyāntareṇa nivṛttiprasavaṃ sarvadāvasthānaprasaṅgāt | tadaiva bhāvo'sti na pūrvaṃ na praścādityapi śabdaḥ kṣaṇikaparyāyatveneṣyamāṇaḥ kṣaṇādūrdhvaṃ sattvāvicchedopajananamantareṇa nārthavān devairapi śakyaḥ parikalpayitum | vināśakālāpekṣayā hi kṣaṇo'lpīyān kālaḥ | tena so'syāstīti kṣaṇiko vaktavyaḥ | itarathā janmavināśayorekasmin kāle bhavatoḥ tulyahetukatvenaikatvaprasaṅgaḥ | ekatve tu dvayorekataraḥ prahātavyaḥ | tatra janmaprahāṇe bhāvā niḥsvabhāvāḥ prasajyeran | nivṛttiparityāge ca janmino bhāvā nityā iti durnivāraḥ prasaṅgaḥ | tat siddho dṛṣṭāntaḥ ||



nanu prameyatvakṣaṇikatvayorvirodhā'siddheḥ sandigdhavipakṣavyāvṛttikaṃ prameyatvamiti cet | naitadasti | yasmādarthaṃ kañcit prāpayat pratyakṣaṃ tena pratyāsannatvātprāpayati | pratyāsattiśca tadutpatirevāvakalpate, na tādātmyam, sākāranirākāravādayoraprakṛtatvāt | anyatra nirākṛtatvācca | sā ca niyatavastupratibhāsākṣiptā kāryakāraṇabhāvalakṣaṇā pratyāsattistulyakālaṃ pramāṇaprameyayoranupapannā, savyetaraviṣāṇayoriva | tataḥ pramāṇamarthasattāṃ bodhayattadadhīnotpādatayā bodhayati | kāraṇabhāvamātrānubandhitvācca tasya pūrvakālasattayā bhavitavyam | ataḥ pūrvakālasattvena vyāptaṃ prameyatvam | pūrvakālasattvaṃ ca kṣaṇikatve'nupapannamiti vyāpakānupalabdhyā vipakṣāt kṣaṇikatvād vyāvartamānaṃ prameyatvamakṣaṇikatvena vyāpyata iti asandigdho vyatirekaḥ | tadevamanumānapramāṇasiddho'kṣaṇika iti ||



evamarthāpattirapyasya sādhikā | tathā hi kāryakāraṇabhāvagrahaṇaṃ kramayaugapadyagrahaṇasmaraṇam abhilāṣaḥ svayaṃnihitapratyanumārgaṇaṃ duṣṭārthakutūhalaviramaṇaṃ karmaphalasaṃbandhaḥ saṃśayapūrvakanirṇayaḥ bandhamokṣaḥ mokṣaprayatnaḥ śubhodarke karmaṇi pravṛttiḥ pratyabhijñā kāryakāraṇabhāvaḥ upādānopādeyabhāvaprabhṛtayaḥ sthirasattāmantareṇānupapadyamānāḥ sthairya sādhayanti | pratikṣaṇaṃ bhede satyanubhaviturvinaṣṭatve'nyasya kāryakāraṇabhāvagrahaṇādyanupapatteriti kathaṃ kṣaṇabhaṅgaśaṅkāpi ||



atrābhidhīyate | apramāṇamevāyaṃ pratyabhijñākhyo vikalpo mithyātvaṃ ca sadviṣayatvabādhakapratyayāt | nanvasya bādhakaṃ pratyakṣamasambhavi, anumānaṃ cāsamarthamāveditamiti cet | nanvasya pratyabhijñānasya svārthāvinābhāvadārḍhye pratyakṣasahasreṇāpi kim | saṃvādaśaithilye tu bādhakapratyakṣavadanumānamapi prāptāvakāśam, pramāṇasyaiva siddhibādhayoradhikārāt | tathā hi māyākāraḥ śirasi nimajjitaṃ golakamāsyena niḥsārayatīti pratyabhijñā śirasi cchidraprasaṅgasaṅgatenānumānena bādhyamānā pratītaiva | bādhyamānā na pratyabhijñeti prastute'pyastu | yathāvanatākāśapratibhāsaḥ sarvasaṃpratipattāvapi bādhya eva tadvadekatāgrahaḥ sarvasaṃpratipattāvapi bādhyo'stu | tasmādasyāḥ pratyakṣatākīrtanaṃ yācitakamaṇḍanamātramatrāṇam | kathamataḥ sthairyasthitirastu | tataścānumānatvamapyasyā dhvastam, uktakrameṇa abādhitatvaviśeṣaṇaviruddhabādhyamānatāyāḥ prasādhanāditi viśeṣaṇāsiddho hetuḥ | yadāpi kṣaṇabhaṅgasādhakaṃ bādhakaṃ nocyate asyāstadāpīyamapramāṇameva, lūnapunarjātakeśapāśādau vyabhicāropalambhāt ||



nanūktaṃ yā vyabhicāriṇī sā na pratyabhijñetyādi | yuktametat, yadi kāryakāraṇabhāvapratītivallakṣaṇabhedaḥ pratipādayituṃ śakyeta | yathā hyanvayavyatirekagrahaṇapravaṇapratyakṣānupalambhādupapanno niścayaḥ kāryakāraṇabhāvapratīteranyastadābhāsapratītirityanayorlakṣaṇabhedaḥ, tathā yadi pratyabhijñāne'pi lakṣaṇabhedo darśitaḥ syāt, darśayituṃ vā śakyo vyabhicārāvyabhicāropayogī, tadā bhavatu pratyabhijñātadābhāsayorvivekaḥ | na tvevamasti, sarvatrātyantasadṛśe vastuni pṛthagjanapratyabhijñāyā ekarasatvāt ||



saṃvāditvāsaṃvāditve lakṣaṇabheda iti cet | na | aliṅgasya hi vikalpasya saṃvādo nāma pramāṇāntarasaṅgatirarthakriyāprāptirvā | tatra na tāvadādyaḥ pakṣaḥ, paścādapi sa evāyamiti svatantraikādhyavasāyamātrādaparasya pramāṇagandhasyāpyabhāvāt |



nāpi dvitīyaḥ pakṣaḥ saṃgacchate | na hi pūrvāparakālayorekavastupratibaddhā siddhā kācidarthakriyāḥ, bhinnenāpi tatsamānaśaktinā tādṛgarthakriyāyāḥ karaṇāvirodhāt | tathā hi yathaiko ghaṭo vāri dhārayatīti tatkālabhāvino'pyanyasya deśāntaravartino na vāridhāraṇavāraṇam tathā dvitīyādikṣaṇopyanyo yadi vāri dhārayati, kīdṛśo doṣaḥ syāt | visadṛśakriyāyāṃ tu cintaiva nāsti | tatkathaṃ pratyabhijñānasya saṃvādasaṃbhavaḥ ||



nanu yadyekaṃ pratyabhijñānaṃ bisaṃvādi dṛṣṭamiti sarvameva pratyabhijñānaṃ visaṃvādi śaṅkyate, tadaikamindriyajñānaṃ keśoṇḍukadvicandrādau visaṃvādyupalabdhamiti ghaṭādiṣvapi sarvameva pratyakṣaṃ visaṃvādi saṃbhāvyatām, indriyajanyatvasyaikalakṣaṇasya sarvatra saṃbhavāditi cet | na | tatrāpi lakṣaṇabhedasya sadbhāvāt | tathā hi bahirarthasthitāvindriyārthakāryatayā sākṣādarthākārānukāritvaṃ pratyakṣatvam | taccābhyāsaviśeṣāsāditapaṭimnā pratyakṣeṇa niścīyate | kvacittvarthakriyāprāptijñānāditi pratyakṣatvamanavadyameva | dvicandrādau tvarthavinākṛtena timirādiviplutacakṣuirmātreṇa tajjñānaṃ janitamiti pratyakṣābhāsameva | dvicandrādyarthābhāvastu deśakālanarāntarairdvicandrāderarthasya bādhitatvādavyāhata iti pratyakṣābhāsaparihāre'pi pratyakṣeṣu ka āścāsavirodhaḥ | pratyabhijñāne'pi sarvamidamastīti na yuktam ||



yathā hi pūrvaṃ pāvakādau pākādikriyā pratibaddhā siddhā paścādanubhūyamānā dahanajñānasya saṃvādamāvedayati, anyathā bāhyārthocchedānnirīhaṃ jagajjāyate, na tathā prathamacaramakālayorekīmāvapratibaddhā kācidarthakriyā upalabdhigocarā pūrvāparakālayorekatvamantareṇa vā pravṛttyādikṣatiryenaikatāvagraho'pi saṃvādī syāt | tadiyamanumānabādhitatvād vyabhicāraśaṅkākalaṅkitatvāccana pratyakṣamanumānaṃ veti kathamataḥ sthairyasiddhiranumānapratihatirvā ||



yat punarvācaspatirūvāca saṃskārendriyayormilitayoreva pratyabhijñānaṃ prati kāraṇatvamiti, tadayuktam, bhinnasāmagrīprasūtatvādanayorjñānayoḥ | tathā hi nimīlite cakṣuṣi sa ityatrendriyavinākṛtasyaiva saṃskārasya sāmarthyamupalabdham | prathamadarśane tvayamityatra saṃskārarahitasyaivendriyasya sāmarthyaṃ dṛṣṭam | tasmāt sāmagrīdvayapratibaddhaṃ jñānadvayamidamavadhāritam | kathamubhābhyāṃ militvaikameva pratyabhijñānamutpāditamityudghuṣyate | bījakṣityādyostu pṛthak sāmarthyaṃ na dṛṣṭamityekaiva sāmagrītyaṅkuro'pyeka evāstu | tathā pūrvadeśakālāparadeśakālābhyāṃ tatsaṃbaddhābhyāmanyatvāt padyarāgasyābheda ityapyasaṅgatam | viruddhayordharmayoḥ padmarāgādanyatve'pi viruddhadharmayogāt padmarāgasya bhedaḥ kathamapahnayate, trailokyaikatvaprasaṅgasya durvāratvāt | na hi dharmadharmiṇoranyatve'pi brāhmaṇatvacāṇḍālatve ekādhāre bhavitumarhata iti padmarāgasya bhedo duratikramaḥ | tathā ca na svabhāvavirodho'numānasyāpyanekatvaprasaṅgāt | tadapi pratyakṣamapratyakṣaṃ cāvikalpo vikalpaścāsamāropaḥ samāropaścetyapyayuktam | anumānasya hi paramārthataḥ svasaṃvedanapratyakṣātmano'vikalpasyāsamāropasvabhāvasyāpratyakṣatvavikalpatvasamāropatvādeḥ parāpekṣayā prajñaptatvād viruddhadharmādhyāsābhāvāt kathaṃ bhedasiddhiḥ | sa e vāyamiti tu pratyabhijñānasya sa ityaspaṣṭākārayogitvam, ayamiti spaṣṭākārayogitvamiti viruddhadharmadvayaṃ bhedakam ||



na caivaṃ vaktavyam tattedantāpekṣayā pratyabhijñānasyāpyekasyaiva pārokṣyāpārokṣyamaviruddhamiti | na hodamekākāratayā vyavasthitam, yenānumānavadasyāpi pārokṣyāpārokṣyavyavasthāmātraṃ syāt | yāvadatītārthākārānukāro vartamānārthānukāraśca svadharmo na bhavati tāvattadarthagocarataiva nāsti | kutaḥ pārokṣyāpārokṣyavyavahāro bhaviṣyati | tasmāt spaṣṭāspaṣṭākāradvayaviruddhadharmādhyāsāt pratyabhijñānaṃ pratyayadvayametaditi sthitam ||



tathā sahetukavināśatvādayamapyasiddho hetuḥ | yatpunaratroktam sahetukavināśatvaṃ ghaṭasyāgnidhūmayoriva pratyakṣānupalambhato mudgaraghaṭavināśayorapi kāryakāraṇabhāvasiddhau siddhamiti, tadasaṅgatam, agnidhūmayordvayorapi dṛśyatvāt, pratyakṣānupalambhato dhūmasya vahnikāryatā sidhyatu | vināśaśabdavācyastvartho na kaścididantayā dṛṣṭaḥ | karparameva ghaṭamudgarābhyāmutpadyamānamupalabdham | yadāhurguravaḥ



dṛṣṭastāvadayaṃ ghaṭo'tra ca patan dṛṣṭastathā mudgaro

dṛṣṭā karparasaṃhatiḥ paramato nāśo na dṛṣṭaḥ paraḥ |

tenābhāva iti śrutiḥ kva nihitā kiṃ vātra tatkāraṇaṃ

svādhīnā palighasya kevalamiyaṃ dṛṣṭā kapālāvaliḥ ||



tadayamabhāvo dṛśyānupalabdhibādhitaḥ kathaṃ pratyakṣato mudgarādikāryamavadhāryaḥ ||



yatpunarasminnadṛśyamāne'pi dṛśyata iti vāgjālaṃ sā bhaṇḍavidyā | tadvacanād gṛhṇānnapi paśureva | tathā hi



kasyacit pratibhāsena sādhyate'pratibhāsi yat |

pratibhāso'sya nāsyeti nopapattestu gocaraḥ || iti |



athaivaṃ vaktavyam kimanyena dhvaṃsena, karparameva ghaṭadhvaṃso'stu, tathā ca sati mudgarādyabhāve karparābhāvāt ghaṭasthairyamavyāhatamiti | durāśā khalveṣā | tathā hi yathā nāśaśabdena karparamucyate tathā yadyabhāvaśabdenāpi karparamevocyate tadaikatra pradeśe ghaṭamekamapanīya ghaṭāntaranyāse tatrāpanītaghaṭasyābhāvavyavahāro na syāt, tatpradhvaṃsakapālayostatrānutpādāt | tasmādyathāpanītaghaṭasya pracyutimātrāpekṣayā nyastaghaṭe'bhāvavyavahārastathā mudgarādikāraṇābhāvāt pradhvaṃsakarparayoranutpāde'pi pracyutimātrāpekṣayaiva pratikṣaṇamanyānyatvavyavahāro ghaṭasya sidhyatīti kutaḥ sthairyasiddhiḥ | tasmāt pradhvaṃsakarparābhāve'pi pracyutimātrātmakabhāvāpekṣayāpyasmanmatamavyāhatam | yadāhurguravaḥ



āstāṃ karparapaṃktireva kalaśadhvaṃso na ceyaṃ purā

tena sthairyamapi prasidhyatu tato bhinnena nāśena kim |

atrottaram,

nāśaḥ saiva yathocyate yadi tathābhāvo'pi kumbhāntara-

nyāse'bhāvavacaḥ kathaṃ matamataḥ sidhyatyabhāvo'pi na ||

nanu yadi svahetujanito nāśo nāsti, kathaṃ kvacideva deśe kāle ghaṭo naṣṭa iti pratītiniyamaḥ | na ca mudgarādanyo nāśasya heturvaktavyaḥ, prāgapi nāśasaṃbhave naṣṭaghaṭabuddhisaṃbhavaprasaṅgāt | yadāhuḥ



nāśo nāsti yadi svahetuniyataḥ kiṃ deśakāle kvacit

kumbho naṣṭa iti pratītiniyamastenāsti kāryaśca saḥ |

nāpyanyat kila kāraṇaṃ rayavato daṇḍātpurāpyanyathā

nāśoktā na kṛtā vinaṣṭaghaṭadhīḥ kenoddhurā vāryate ||



iti cet | tarhīdānīmarthāpattyā pradhvaṃsaṃ prasādhya mudgarādhīnatvamasya sādhayitumārabdham | tathā ca sati dhūmāgnivat pratyakṣataḥ pradhvaṃsasya mudgarādikāryatvaṃ siddhamityutphullagallamullapitaṃ vyāluptam ||



na cārthāpattito'pi tatsiddhiḥ saṃdyapate, kumbho naṣṭa iti pratīteranyathāpyupapadyamānatvāt | vināśaṃ vināpi hi ghaṭadarśanavato mudgarakṛtakapālānubhava evanaṣṭaghaṭāvasāyasādhanaḥ, kimapareṇa nāśena kartavyam, ghaṭo naṣṭa iti buddherghaṭaniścayapūrvakamudgarakṛtakapālānubhavamātrānvayavyatirekānuvidhānadarśanāt | na ceyaṃ sāmagrīpūrvamapyasti | mudgarābhāve karparapaṃkterevābhāvāt kathaṃ prāgapi naṣṭaghaṭabuddhiprasaṅgaḥ saṃgato nāma | yadāhurguravaḥ



dṛṣṭe'mbhobhṛti mudgarādijanitā dṛṣṭā kapālāvalī

saṅketānugamādvinaṣṭaghaṭadhīstāvat samutpādyate |

sāmagryāmiha nāśanāma na kimapyaṅgaṃ na cāsyāmapi

syādeṣā na kadāpi nāpi ca purāpyeṣā samagrā sthitiḥ ||

arthāpattirato gatā kṣayamiyaṃ na dhvaṃsasiddhau prabhuḥ || iti ||



yadi nāśānubhavo nāsti kapālānubhavāt kapālakalpanaiva syāt, na naṣṭaghaṭabuddhiriti cet | tadetadatisāhasam, ghaṭaniścayapūrvakakapālavalayadarśanādeva naṣṭaghaṭabuddheḥ sākṣādevānubhūyamānatvāt | tadapalāpe dhūmādīnāmapi dahanādipūrvakatvaniścayo na syādityatiprasaṅgaḥ ||



nanu ghaṭo naṣṭa iti buddhirviśeṣyabuddhiḥ | sā ca vināśaṃ viśeṣaṇamākṣipatīti cet | tadasat, yataḥ



svabuddhyā rajyate yena viśeṣyaṃ tadviśeṣaṇam |



ucyate | na cāvidyamānamadṛśyaṃ vā svabuddhyā kiñcidrañjayati | prayogo'trayasya na svarūpanirbhāsastanna kasyacit svānurakta pratītinimittam | yathā karikeśaraḥ | nāsti ca svarūpanirbhāso dhvaṃsasyeti vyāpakānupalabdhiḥ | nāsyā asiddhiḥ, abhāvasya svarūpeṇaivedantayā nirbhāsābhāvāt | na ca viruddhatā, sapakṣe bhāvāt | nāpyanaikāntikatvam, pratibhāsābhāve'pi svānuraktapratītihetutve śaśaviṣāṇāderapi tathātvaṃ syādityatiprasaṅgaḥ |

na dhvaṃsena vinā vinaśyati jagad bhāvena sārdhaṃ sacet

saccāsacca kimastu vastuniyataṃ bhāvānujo'sau tataḥ |

bhāvāt tena tu bhinnakāraṇatayā tatkāraṇāsaṃbhave-

'bhāvāttena kṛtānyatāpi galitā bhaṅgaḥ kuto'nukṣaṇam ||



atrocyate | kāraṇāntarādutpadyamāno dhvaṃso'bhinno bhinno vā | nādyaḥ pakṣaḥ, bhinnakāraṇatvāt, tairanabhyupagatatvācca | atha dvitīyaḥ pakṣa | tadā kaḥ punarbhāvasya pradveṣo yena pradhvaṃsākhye vastuni svahetorutpanne nivartate nāma ||



yatpunaretaducyate - nābhāvasyotpāde bhāvasyāparā nivṛttiḥ, kiṃ tvabhāvotpattireva tannivṛttiriti | kathamanyasyotpāde'nyasya nivṛttiḥ | atra svabhāvabhedairuttaraṃ vācyam ye parasparaparihārasthitayaḥ svahetubhyo jāyante | na hi svato'nyasyāṅkurasya vahnirna kāraṇamityanyatvāviśeṣād bhasmano'pi na kāraṇam | svabhāvabhedenatu kāryakāraṇabhāvasamarthanaṃ parasparaparihārasthitiniyame'pi tulyam | yathā cotpādasya purastādakhilasāmarthyarahitasyāṅkuraprāgabhāvasyāpakāraṃ kañcidakurvanto'pi bījādayo'ṅkuramārabhamāṇāḥ prāgabhāvaṃ nivartayanti, tadutpādasyaiva tatprāgabhāvanivṛttirūpatvāt; evaṃ tadabhāvahetavo'pi bhāvarūpe'kiñcitkarā api tadabhāvamādadhānāstannivartayanti, abhāvotpādasyaiva bhāvanivṛttirūpatvāt | tena pūrvavannārthakriyākaraṇaprasaṅga iti | taducitaṃ syād yadi kāryakāraṇayorivāsyā pyātmā pramāṇapratītaḥ syāt , kevalaṃ dṛśyānupalambhagraste'pyetasminnupalabhyata iti pralāpo vyaktamiyaṃ bhaṇḍavidyetyuktam | arthāpattirapi kṣīṇetyapi prāgabhāvasya ca dṛṣṭāntatvenopanyāso bhaṇḍālekhyanyāyaḥ |



kiṃ ca kaḥ punaratra virodhaḥ

sahasthānābhāvo yadi tava virodho'rthavipadoḥ

sahasthānāsaṅgaḥ kṣaṇamapi yathā śītaśikhinoḥ |

sa ca dhvaṃso dhvaṃsāntaramupanayan saṃprati bhaved

virodhī so'pyanyaṃ kṣayamiti na nāśaḥ kathamapi ||



anyathā siddhasattāmātreṇa virodhitve sarvaṃ sarveṇa viruddhaṃ prasajyeta | svabhāvālambanamapyadarśanādeva nirastamiti |



athānyonyābhāvaprakṛtikatayārthe sato tadā

kṣayasyaivābhāvaḥ saha bhavatu vā hetubalataḥ |

anena dhvaṃse ca prakṛtahatirasya tvanudaye

balīyānevārthaḥ svayamapacaye'nyena kimiha ||



saccāsacca kimastu vastviti tu prasaṅgaḥ trilocanaprastāve nirākaraṇīyaḥ | ata evātra prastāve bhuvanaikagurūn bhagavataḥ kīrtipādānavamanyamānaḥ śaṅkaraḥ paśorapipaśuriti kṛpāpātramevaiṣa jālmaḥ |



yadapyāha trilocanaḥ bhāvavyatiriktāṃ nivṛttimanicchadbhiraśakyā svarūpanivṛttiravasthāpayitum | yā hi tasya prāktanī kācidavasthā bhavadbhirarthakriyānirvartanayogyā dṛṣṭā saiva yadyuttarakālamapyanuvartate tarhi svarūpeṇaiva nivṛtto bhāvaḥ kathamavasthāpyate | tadānīmayaṃ naṣṭo nāma yadi svahetupratilabdhasvarūpavyatirekiṇī tasya kācidavasthotpadyeta, utpattau saiva tasyātmāntaraṃ jātamityatādavasthyamevāsya vināśaṃ brūmaḥ | tādavasthye tādātmye ca svarūpeṇa nivṛtto bhāva ityasya śabdasya satyamarthaṃ na vidmaḥ | svarūpanivṛttiḥ khalviyaṃ bhavantī bhāva eva syāt, bhāvādanyā vā | tattve svakāraṇebhyo niṣpannasyārthasyānyathānupapattāvutpatterārabhya sattvānnityatvaṃ prasajyeta | anyatve ca tadeva nivṛtteranyatvanivṛtti(riti) priyamanuṣṭhitaṃ priyeṇa | tasmādutsṛjya vibhramaṃ nāśotpattireva naṣṭatvamabhyupagantavyamiti |



tadetadajñānaphalam | tathā hi

svakāraṇādeva yathānyadeśa -

vicchinnarūpaḥ samudeti bhāvaḥ |

vicchinnabhinnakṣaṇavṛttirevaṃ

svakāraṇādeva na jāyate kim ||

abhāvato'rthāntararūpabādhe

tatrāpi cārthāntaramīkṣaṇīyam |

pradīpadṛṣṭāntamataṃ na kāntaṃ

svarūpasaṃdarśanaviprayogāt ||



yathā hi deśāntaraparāvṛttamanīlādiparāvṛttaṃ ca svahetorutpannaṃ vastu tathā dvitīyakṣaṇāntaraparāvṛttamapi | yathā cānyadeśānavasthāyitvaṃ taddeśāvasthāyitvenāviruddham, viruddhaṃ ca deśāntarāvasthāyitvenaiva tathā dvitīyakṣaṇāvasthāyitvaṃ prathamakṣaṇāvasthāyitvenāviruddham, viruddhaṃ punardvitīyakṣaṇāvasthāyitvenaiva | kevalaṃ deśāntaradvitīyakṣaṇayostatpracyutimātraṃ vyavahriyate | tadanyonyābhāvapradhvaṃsābhāvayoḥ padārthayoḥ sadbhāve'pyavāryam, abhāvāntarāsvīkāre'pi bhāvābhāvayorapyamiśratvāsvīkāre tādātmyaprasaṅgāt | tasmād bhāvābhāvayostādātmyamiti | yathārthakriyākāritvasya taddeśavartitvanīlatvādibhinnavirodhastathā dvitīyakṣaṇānavasthāyitvenāpīti vivakṣitam | paramārthatastu dharmidharmayostādātmyaṃ vyāvṛttikṛto bhedavyavahāra iti apohasiddhau prasādhitam | etaccoktakrameṇāviruddhamāpāditam | etāvati tu tattve vākchalamātrapravṛttā dveṣaviṣajvalitātmānaḥ kṣudrāḥ pralapantīti kimatra brūmaḥ |



tataśca vyatiriktanivṛttyutpattimantareṇa svarūpanivṛtterupapatteḥ kathaṃ kṣaṇādūrdhvaṃ prāktanasattāvasthitiḥ | tasmādutsṛṣṭavibhramaṃ naṣṭavyavahāramātramastu, na tvasyānyat kiñcij jāyeta, bhāvasya tādavasthyaprasaṅgāt | abhāvaḥ kathaṃ niṣidhyata iti cet | na, tadanutpattimātraviṣayasya vācāniścayena ca paścādabhāvavyavahāramātrapravartanasyeṣṭatvād vastūtpattereva niṣiddhatvāt |



nanu keyaṃ vācoyuktiḥ, abhāvavyavahāramātramiṣyate paścānnābhāva iti | evaṃ sati visaṃvāditāprasaṅgo'bhāvavyavahārasya | abhāvaśca mithyeti bhāva eva pratiṣedhyasya syāt | sa cābhāvaḥ paścā(d) bhavatīti sphuṭataramasya kādācitkatvātsahetukatvam, vastutvaṃ ceti | asadetat, abhāvākhyavastvantarāsvīkāre'pi pracyutimātrāpekṣayāpi vyavahārasya caritārthatvapratipādanāt |



yattu tadviviktabhūtalāderviṣayatvamāśaṅkyoktam, na bhūtalādervastvantaratvāt | na ca vastvantare pratipādite pratīte vā ghaṭādi vastubhūtamiti pratipāditaṃ pratītaṃ vā bhavati | evaṃ vastvantarameva nāśa iti asmin mate yad dūṣaṇamuktaṃ tat svayameva parihṛtaṃ syāditi, tadapyasaṃbaddham, kevalaṃ hi bhūtalamasya viṣaya iti kathaṃ na ghaṭāderabhūtatvabodhaḥ | yaiva hi ghaṭādyapekṣayā kaivalyāvasthā pradeśasya sa eva ghaṭavirahaḥ | vacanādināpyevaṃ kevalapradeśapratipādane kathamiva na prakṛtaghaṭādyabhāvapratipādanam | kaivalyaṃ cāsahāyapradeśādavyatibhinnameva ||



na ceha ghaṭo nāstīti pratyayasya ghaṭavatyapi pradeśe prasaṅgaḥ, svahetostathotpannasya saghaṭapradeśasya kevalapradeśādanyatvāt | na ca pratyabhijñānataḥ saghaṭāghaṭapradeśayorekatvam, pūrvamasya nirākaraṇāt | na ca vināśahetorasāmarthyavaiyarthyābhidhāne'ṅkurādihetorapi tathābhidhātumucitam | asiddhe hi kārye hetorāśrayaṇamavārtham | siddhe ceyaṃ cintā , yadi hetornityo'nityo vārtho jātaḥ kiṃ nāśakāraṇeneti hetupuraskāreṇaiva pravṛtteḥ | na caivamasiddhe'ṅkurādau kārye śakyamabhidhātum, svarūpasyaivābhāt taddharmakatvā(tad) dharmakatvādiparyanuyogasya nirviṣayatvāt ||



nanu tvayāpi bhāvābhāvayorlakṣaṇabhedo'bhihitaḥ | tatkathamekatvaṃ sarvārthānām | lakṣaṇabhedādeva bhedavyavasthā | tato'pi cenna bhedavyavasthitiḥ, na kasyacit kutaścid bhedavyavasthitirityadvaitaprasaṅga iti cet | na | yo hi naśvarasvabhāvaḥ sa eva nāśoḥ, naśyatīti bahulādhikārāt kartari ghañaḥ prasādhanāt, taṃ nāśaṃ bhāvasvabhāvamicchāmaḥ | naśanaṃ nāśa iti tu prasajyātmā dvidhā kartavyaḥ | tattvatastāvad vastutvavirahāt tattvānyatvavirahita evāsau bhāvo na bhavatīti tadbhāvaniṣedhamātrapātaṃ tu bhavati kharaśṛṅgādivat | saṃvṛtau tu yathā kālabhedena vikalpyamānaḥ kādācitka iva pratibhāti tathā sarvopākhyāviraharūpatayā bhāvādbhinna iva pratibhātīti nāvastutvopalakṣaṇabhedākhyānavirodhaḥ | evaṃ ca sati saṃvṛttyā lakṣaṇabhede bhāvābhāvayorbhedasyeṣṭatvāt | tatvena ca lakṣaṇaikatāvirahe bhāvasya tenaikyaniṣedhāt kathamadvaitaprasaṅgopālambhaḥ ||



syādetat | na ca vivekāpratītau tadviviktagrahaṇaṃ bhavati | tadvivekaśca na bhūtalādisvarūpameva viśeṣaṇatvāditi | tadetannyāyabahiṣkṛtam | viśeṣaṇaviśeṣyabhāvo hi saṅkalpāruḍhe rūpe bāhyārthasparśe vikalpaśabdaliṅgāntarāṇāṃ vaiyarthyaprasaṅgāditi śāstre vistareṇa pratipādanāt | sa ca saṅkalpo'bhinnamapi bhāvaṃ bhinnamivākalayati | yathā śilāputrakasya śarīram, śarīre karaṇādayaḥ, lambakarṇo devadatta ityādi | tasmāt kalpanādhīno viśeṣaṇaviśeṣyabhāvaḥ | abhinne'pi bhāve bhedavivakṣāpekṣo bhedavyavahāraḥ kathaṃ bhedaniyatamātmānamātanotu ||



skhaladgatirayaṃ rāhoḥ śira ityādinirdeśa iti cet | yadi satyametat, tadā śiro'tiriktasya rāhoriva kṣmātalāderatiriktasya vivekasya dṛśyānupalambhabādhitatvādayamapi nirdeśaḥ skhaladgatireva, tathāpi neti koṣapānaṃ pramāṇam | tasmātsaghaṭāt pradeśāntarāt pradeśa evāyamanyo ghaṭaviviktaḥ svahetorutpanno na tu ghaṭavivekena viśeṣitaḥ, svahetorutpannasya viviktasyābhāve vivekasyābhāvāt | kiṃ ca



vyāptaṃ bhidā yadi viśeṣyaviśeṣa(ṇa)tvaṃ

bhedātyayānnanu tadā tadabhāva eva |

deśo viśiṣṭa iti cāsti yathā tatheda-

mapyasti dṛśyamatabhedadṛgasti neti ||



tasmānnābhāvo nāma kaścid yatra kāraṇavyāpāraḥ | tadevaṃ sahetukavināśatvāditi hetuḥ svarūpāsiddha iti sthitam ||



satāmakṣaṇikatvaṃ kāra(ṇa)vattvādityapyasaṃbaddhameva, kṣaṇikatvakāraṇavattvayorvirodhābhāvādakṣaṇikatvena kāraṇavattvasya vyāpterasiddheḥ sandigdhavyatirekitvāt | na cāsya viparyaye vṛttiśaṅkā nāśasya sahetukatvameva nivartayati, uktakrameṇa nāśasyaivābhāvāditi ||



tathā prameyatvādapi sthirasiddhirmanorathamātram | sākāravedanodayapakṣasthitau hi dvitīyakṣaṇānuvṛttāvapyarthasya vyavahitatvāt, prakāśānupapatterviṣayasvarūpavedanameva jñānasya viṣayavedanam | evaṃ ca vartamānānurodhaḥ | atīte'pi tatpratyāsatterapracyuteḥ | na cātiprasaṅgaḥ, anantarātītādanyena kṣaṇena sārūpyāsamarpaṇāt | tataśca kāraṇatvād yadi nāma prameyatvasya pūrvakālasattvena vyāptistathāpi prameyatvavat pūrvakālasattvamapi kṣaṇike'viruddhamiti prameyatvākṣaṇikatvayorvyāptisādhano vyāpakānupalambho'siddhaḥ | jñānākārārpakatvaṃ hi hetutvam, prameyatvaṃ prāmāṇikapratītatvam | taccānantarātīta eva kṣaṇe samupapadyate ||



jñānasattvāsamaye'rthānuvṛtterabhāvānnirviṣayateti cet | nanvanuvṛttāvapi tadarpitākārasvarūpasaṃvedanameva tadvedanam | tadeva ca saviṣayatvam | iyaṃ ca pratyāsattiranantarātīte'pi kṣaṇe'kṣīṇeti na dvitīyakṣaṇānuvṛtteranurodha ityuktam | ataḥ sandigdhavyatirekitvādanaikāntikameva prameyatvam ||



atha sākāravādavidveṣādanākārajñānagrāhyatvaṃ prameyatvamabhipretaṃ tadāsiddhatāsya hetoḥ | indriyārthasannikarṣāderjñānamutpadyatāṃ nāma | taccānubhavaikarasatvena sarvatrārthe sadṛśākāratvāt kasya grāhakamastu, yenābhisaṃbaddhamiti cet | ātmamanaḥsaṃyogādīnāmapi grahaṇaṃ syāt | janakasya grahaṇamiti cet | tathāpyātmādīnāṃ grahaṇaprasaṅgaḥ | viṣayatvena janakasya grahaṇamityapyasādhu, viṣayatvasyādyāpyaniścayāt | idaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ śrutaṃ vedamityadhyavasāyo yatrārthe sa viṣaya iti cet | nanvastyeva pratiniyato vyavahāraḥ | kaḥ punaratra pratyāsattiniyama iti pṛcchāmaḥ | sa cedupavarṇayituṃ na śakyate, vyavahāro'pi tvanmate niyato na syāditi brūmaḥ | asti tāvaditi cet | ata evārthasārūpyamasādhāraṇaṃ pratyāsattinimittamastu, nirmimitte niyamāyogāt ||



nanu sārūpyamapyarthādarśane kathamavadhāryate | tacca kimekadeśena, sarvātmanā vā | ādye pakṣe sarvaṃ sarvasya vedanaṃ syāt | dvitīye tu jñānamajñānatāṃ vrajet | kiṃ ca sārūpyādarthavedane'nantaraṃ jñānaṃ tulyaviṣayaṃ viṣayaḥ syāditi cet | mābhūdarthasya darśanam | ākāraviśeṣabalādadhyavasitārthasyārthakriyāprāpterevārtho'pīdṛśa iti sārūpyavyavahāro'viruddhaḥ | ata eva sthūlagataṃ paramāṇugataṃ vā sārūpyaṃ na cintyate | jñānākārasya sthūlatve'pyekasāmagrīpratibaddhapuñjaviśeṣādapyabhīṣṭakriyākaraṇāt puruṣārthasiddheḥ | sārūpyaṃ caikadeśenaiva | na cātra sarvavedanaprasaṅgaḥ, sarveṣāṃ jñānaṃ pratyajanakatvāt | janakānāṃ ca svavyapadeśanimittāsādhāraṇaikadeśārpakatvena grāhyatvāt | nāpi tulyaviṣayāntarajñānagrahaṇaprasaṅgaḥ, tasya svasaṃvedanādeva pramāṇāt siddhatvāt | pramāṇāntarasya tatra vaiyarthyāt | jaḍatve satyākārārpakasya vastuno grāhyatvādityasyārthasyābhīṣṭatvācca | bāhyārthasthitau ceyaṃ cinteti sarvamanavadyam | tadevamayaṃ prameyatvāditi hetuḥ sākāravādapakṣe sandigdhavyatirekaḥ, nirākārapakṣe cāsiddha iti sthitam |



na cārthāpattirati sthirātmasādhanī, kāryakāraṇabhāvagrahaṇādīnāmanyathopapatteḥ | tathā hi upādānopādeyabhāvasthitacittasantatimapyāśrityeyaṃ vyavasthā sustheti kathamātmānaṃ pratyujjīvayatu | tatra kāryakāraṇabhāvapratītistāvadanākulā | tathāpi prāgbhāvivastuniścayajñānasyopādeyabhūtena tadarpitasaṃskāragarbheṇa paścādbhāvivastujñānenāsmin satīdaṃ bhavatīti niścayo janyate | tathā prāgbhāvivastvapekṣayā kevalabhūtalaniścāyakajñānopādeyabhūtena tadarpitasaṃskāragarbheṇa paścādbhāvivastvapekṣayā kevalabhūtalaniścāyakajñānenāsminnasatīdaṃ na bhavatīti vyatirekaniścayo janyate | yathoktam



ekāvasāyasamanantarajātamanya-

vijñānamanvayavimarśamupādadhāti |

evaṃ tadekavirahānubhavodbhavānya-

vyāvṛttidhīḥ prathayati vyatirekabuddhim ||



ata eva devadattenāgnau pratīte yajñadattena ca dhūme pratīte na kāryakāraṇabhāvagrahaṇaṃ tajjñānayorupādānopādeyabhāvābhāvāt | yatra tvekasantāne jñānakṣaṇayorupādānopādeyabhāvastatra kāryādigrahaḥ sugrahaḥ | anyathā satyapi nityātmani pratisandhātari kāryakāraṇabhāvādīnāmapratītireva syāt |



tathā hi ātmanaḥ sakāśāt pratisandheyabuddhīnāmabhedo bhedo vā bhedābhedo vā | prathamapakṣe ātmaiva syāt pratisandhātā, buddhya eva vā syuḥ pratisandheyā iti kaḥ pratisandhānārthaḥ | bhedapakṣa'pi buddhibhyo bhidyamānasya jaḍasyātmanaḥ kaḥ pratisandhānārtha iti na vidmaḥ | buddhiyogād draṣṭutvavat pratisandhātṛtvamiti cet | buddhi reva tarhi draṣṭī pratisandhātrī cetī niyamasvīkāre tadyogādasya tathātvamiti kimanena yācitakamaṇḍanena | buddhīnāṃ kartṛtvābhāvāditi cet | taddvāreṇāpi tarhi tasyātmano draṣṭṛtvādivyavahārānupapattiḥ | yadi hi buddhirhetoḥ phalasya vā draṣṭrī syāt tadānantaryapratiniyamasya cānusandhātrī kalpitā | tadyogād draṣṭṛtvaṃ pratisandhātṛtvaṃ cocyata iti syādapi prativiṣayamalabdhaviśeṣāyāṃ ca buddhau saṃbandho'pi na viśeṣaṃ vyavahārayitumīśaḥ - adhunā nibandhanādhigantā, adhunā phalasya, idānīṃ pratisandhāteti | tathāvidhabuddhigataviśeṣasvīkāre tu kimapareṇātmanā kartavyam, tāvataiva paryāptatvād vyavahārasya |



sthirātmānamantareṇa saiva buddhirna syāditi cet | kenaivaṃ pratārito'si | aho mohamāhātmyaṃ yadīdṛśānapi paravaśīkaroti | tathā hi nedamidamantareṇa yaducyate tat khalvanyatra pratyakṣānupalambhābhyāṃ sāmarthyāvadhāraṇe sati yujyate vahneriva dhūme, cakṣurādivadvā dṛṣṭakāraṇāntarasāmagryā kāryādarśane paścād darśane ca kiñcidanyadapekṣaṇīyamastīti sāmānyākāreṇa |



ādyaḥ pakṣastāvannāstīti vyaktam | dvitīyo'pi na saṃbhavī | na hi kāraṇabuddhisamanantaraṃ kāryabuddhau satyāṃ niścayapravṛttasyedamasyānantaraṃ dṛṣṭaṃ mayeti pratisandhānamadṛṣṭapūrvaṃ kadācit yato'nyasya sāmarthyaparikalpanaṃ syādityudasya vyāmohamuktakrameṇaiva kāryakāraṇagrahaṇavyavasthā svīkartavyā |



bhedābhedapakṣastu dhikkāra eva, tasyaiva tadapekṣayā bhedābhedaviruddhadharmādhyāsādekatvānupapatteḥ | tataśca yadbhinnaṃ bhinnamevābhinnaṃ cābhinnamiti naikasya bhedābhedau | tathāpyabhede viśvamekamiti yugapadutpādasthitipralayaprasaṅgaḥ | evaṃ kramivastugrāhakaiḥ kramijñānairupādānopādeyabhūtaiḥ sākṣāt pāramparyeṇa krameṇāmī jāyanta iti niścayo janyate | aikakālikānekavastugrāhakaireva tajjñānairekopādānatvāt sakṛdimāni jātānīti vikalpaḥ kriyata iti kramākramagrahaṇamapyanavadyam |



kathamanekajñānādekavikalpa iti cet | ki doṣaḥ |

bhavantu bhinnā matayastathāpi tā

dadhatyupādānatayaikakalpanam |

na bhinnasaṃkhyā phalahetubādhinī

na cānyasantānabhavā ivākṣamāḥ ||



yadapyuktaṃ śaṅkareṇa pūrvottarakṣaṇayoḥ saṃvittīḥ, tābhyāṃ vāsanā, tayā hetuphalabhāvādhyavasāyī vikalpa iti cet | kimidānīṃ yatkiñcidāśaṅkitena vaktavyamityevaṃ vidhiranuṣṭhīyate bhavatā | vikalpo hi gṝhītānusandhānamatadrūpasamāropo vā syāt | na tāvat pūrvaḥ pakṣaḥ, adṛṣṭānvayavyatirekasya puruṣasya hetuphalabhāvāgrahe'nusandhānapratyayahetorvāsanāviśeṣasyaivānupapatteḥ | agṛhītasya cānusandhāne'tiprasaṅgāditi |



tadetanna samyagālocitam | yato hetuphalabhūtayoḥ pūrvottarakṣaṇayorekaikena jñānenānanubhave'pyupādānopādeyabhūtābhyāṃ kramijñānābhyāṃ hetuphalatve gṛhīte eva | kevalaṃ hetukāle phalābhāvāt | tadviṣayasāmarthyagrahaṇe'pi phalādarśanāt tadavasāya evāpravṛttaḥ kāryadarśanena pravartyate | tathā phalāvalokane'pi tatkāryatā gṛhītaiva vikalpenānusandhīyata iti gṛhītānusandhānarūpa evāyaṃ vikalpa iti yatkiñcidetat |



yadāha mahābhāṣyālaṅkāraḥ

yadi nāmaikamadhyakṣaṃ na pūrvāparavittimat |

adhyakṣadvayasadbhāve prākparāvedanaṃ katham || iti ||



tathā smaraṇamabhilāṣaḥ, svayaṃ vihitapratyanumārgaṇam, dṛṣṭārthakutūhalaviramaṇam, karmaphalasaṃbandhaḥ, saṃśayapūrvakanirṇayaśca pūrvapūrvānubhavaikopādānakāraṇaiḥ samarpitasaṃskāragatairuttarottarārthānubhavaivopādeyabhūtairjanyamāno yujyata iti kimadhikenātmanā parikalpitena | upādānopādeyabhāvaniyamādeva ca na santānāntare smaraṇādiprasaṅgaḥ saṅgataḥ | kimidamupādānamiti cet | ucyate | yatsantānanivṛttyā yadutpadyate tattasyopādānakāraṇam | yathā mṛtsantānanivṛttyotpadyamānasya kumbhasya mṛdupādānamiti śāstre prapañcitam | na cātra paralokakṣatiḥ ||



yadapyuktam - cittaśarīrayoḥ kiyatkālasthitinibandhanasya dṛṣṭasya nivṛttau cittasyāpi nivṛttiprasaṅgaḥ | maraṇavedanayā hi cittaṃ vikalam | tato'vikalā cittāntarajananāvasthā na saṃbhavati | tasmādupasthite maraṇaduḥkhe sarvasaṃskāravirodhini cittamapyucchidyeteti nāstikyamāyātamiti | tadayuktam | yato maraṇaduḥkhaṃ cittaviśeṣa eva, tasya cittāntarajananasāmarthyasvabhāvasya svabhāvādavāryaiva jñānotpattiriti | bandhānmokṣo'pi saṃsāricitta sabandhādanāśravacittaprabandho yaḥ | śubhādimokṣayorapi pravṛttiravāryā | yataḥ satyapyātmanyahameva mukto bhaviṣyāmi sukhī cetyātmagrahaṇakṣaṇādadhyavasāyāt pravartate | na punarātmanā galahastitaḥ | sa cānādyavidyāparamparāyātaḥ pūrvāparayorekatvāropako mithyāsaṅkalpo bādhite'pyātmanyavyāhataprasara iti kathamapravṛttiḥ | nanu



nairātmyavādapakṣe (tu) pūrvamevāvabudhyate |

madvināśātphalaṃ na syānmatto'nyasyāthavā bhavet || iti |



apravṛttirevāstviti cet | astu, ko doṣaḥ | yadyayamātmagraho nirviṣayo'pi pravṛttimanākṣipta kṣaṇamapi sthātuṃ (na) prabhavati | yathā hi jātasyāvaśyaṃ mṛtyuriti jñātavatopyapratikriyaputrādimaraṇe sorastāḍamākrando maraṇādau ca yatnaḥ śokodrekāt evamavidyodrekādeva nairātmyaṃ jānannapi pravartate, na sukhamāsta iti kimatra kriyatām, avidyāyāḥ pravartanaśakteravāryatvāt | pratyabhijñā ca pūrvameva dhvastā | kāryakāraṇabhāvaniyatā paścādbhāvipūrvabhāvitā | sā ca kṣaṇike'pyaviruddhā | upādānopādeyatā ca kramisvasaṃvedanajñānadvayena sākṣātkṛtā tatpṛṣṭhabhāvinā niścīyata iti, asatyapyātmani pratisandhātari kāryakāraṇagrahaṇādaya upapadyamānā nātmānamupasthāpayituṃ prabhavanti | ato'rthāpattirati na kṣameti bhāgyahīnamanorājyamiva sthirasiddhirviśīryata eva | tathā ca kṣaṇabhaṅgasandehe sattvādyanumānaṃ prāptāvasaram ||
