namastārāyai

yasminnavajñā narakaprasūti-

rbhaktiśca sarvābhimatapradāyinī |

avyāhataṃ yo jagadekabandhuḥ

sa jñāyate sarvavidatra nirmalam ||



iha hi dharmajñādaparama navaśeṣajñamanicchannapi kumārilo dharmajña eva kevale pratiṣiddhe vedamupādeyamabhimanyamānaḥ paṭhati



dharmajñatvaniṣedhastu kevalo'tropayujyate |

sarvamanyadvijānaṃstu puruṣaḥ kena vāryate || iti |



tadayamācāryo'pi sarvasarvajñacaraṇareṇusanāthaṃ yāvadākāśaṃ jagadicchannapi tribhuvanacūḍāmaṇībhūtasaparikaraheyopādeyatattvajñapuruṣapuṇḍarīkaprasādhanādapyapramāṇakajaḍavaidikaśa-bdarāśipramukhasakaladurmatipravādapratihatirityantarnayannāha



heyopādeyatattvasya sābhyupāyasya vedakaḥ |

yaḥ pramāṇamasāviṣṭo na tu sarvasya vedakaḥ || ityādi ||



tadidānīmupayuktasarvajñameva tāvat prasādhayāmaḥ | paryante tu sarvasarvajñadohadamapyapaneṣyāmaḥ | svāsthyamāsthīyatām |



yo yaḥ sādaranirantaradīrghakālābhyāsasahitacetoguṇaḥ sa sarvaḥ sphuṭībhāvayogyaḥ |



yathā yuvatyākāraḥ kāminaḥ puruṣasya |



yathoktābhyāsasahitacetoguṇāśvāmī caturāryasatyaviṣayā ākārā iti svabhāvo hetuḥ |



tatra na tāvadāśrayadvāreṇa hetudvāreṇa vāsiddhisaṃbhāvanā | saṃkalparūḍhānāṃ caturāryasatyākārāṇāṃ cetoguṇatvamātrasya ca hetoḥ pratyātmavedyatvāt | nāpi sādaranirantaradīrghakālābhyāsalakṣaṇaṃ hetuviśeṣaṇamasaṃbhāvanīyam | tathā hi saṃsārasvabhāvaṃ duḥkhātiśayamapanetumiyaṃ saṃkalpārūḍhā caturāryasatyākārabhāvanā prārabdhā | asyāścāsaṃbhāvanā nāma kiṃ (1) bhāvyasya saṃkalpārūḍhatvāsaṃbhavāt (2) anarthitvāt (3) heyarūpāniścayāt (4) heyasya nityatvāt (5) tasyāhetutvāt (6) taddhetornityatvāt (7)heyahetvaparijñānāt (8) tadbādhakābhāvāt (9) bādhakāparijñānāt (10) cittasya doṣātmakatvāt (11) tasya vyavasthitaguṇatvāt (12) bhavāntarābhāvāt (13) dhvastadoṣapunarudbhavād veti trayodaśa vikalpāḥ ||



tatra na tāvadādyaḥ pakṣaḥ | saparikaraheyopādeyātmakasya caturāryasatyākārasya bhāvyasya vikalpārūḍhasya pratyātmavedyatvāt ||



nāpi dvitīyaḥ | duḥkhamātrasyāpi parityāgārthitvena vyāpteḥ sarvajanānubhavasiddhatvāt ||



nāpi tṛtīyaḥ | saṃsārātmano duḥkhasvarūpasya pratīteḥ | kathamasya duḥkhātmakatvamiti cet | saṃkṣepataḥ kathitaṃ



sākṣādduḥkhaprakṛti narakaṃ pretatiryakkharūpaṃ

martye śarma kvacana tadapi grastamevāsukhena |

devānāṃ ca kṣayamupagate puṇyapātheyapiṇḍe

caṇḍajvālāvyatikaramuco hanta bhogāsta eva || iti ||



na ca caturthaḥ | vārtamānikapañcaskandhātmakasya duḥkhasyotpādadarśanāt ||

na ca pañcamaḥ | duḥkhasya kādācitkatvāt ||

nāpi ṣaṣṭhaḥ | kāryakādācitkatvasya anityahetukatvena vyāptatvāt ||



nāpiṃ saptamaḥ | duḥkhe viparyāsatṛṣṇāpravṛtiśaktikarmabhiḥ sahitasyātmadṛṣṭilakṣaṇasya hetoḥ sāṃsārikapañcaskandhalakṣaṇakāryānyathānupapattito niścayāt | yadāhuḥ



ahaṃkārastāvattadanu mamakārastadubhaya -

prasūto rāgādistadahitamaterdveṣadahanaḥ |

tataḥ śeṣaḥ kleśastata udayinaḥ karmavisarā -

dvisārī saṃsāraḥ śaraṇarahito dāruṇataraḥ ||

tasmāttṛṣṇāviparyāsāvātmadṛṣṭipuraḥsarau |

saṃsāriskandhajanakau nirṇītau kāryahetutaḥ ||



ātmadarśanasya cāvidyātvamātmapratikṣepato draṣṭavyam | tadabhāve'pi kṣaṇabhaṅgaprastāve paralokādikamanākulamavasthāpitam ||



na cāṣṭamaḥ | ātmadṛṣṭirūpāyāḥ avidyāyāḥ pratipakṣabhūtasya nairātmyadarśanasya saṃbhavāt ||



nāpinavamaḥ | nairātmyadarśanasya mārgaśabdavācyasya pramāṇato niścitatvāt ||



daśamo'pyasaṃbhavī | doṣāvasthāyāṃ cittasya saṃskārāpekṣatvāt | yo hi yatsvabhāvastasmin svabhāve vyavasthito na saṃskāramapekṣate | yathā doṣamapanīya tapanīyamakṣayadaśāyāmavasthitam | apekṣate ca cittamavidyāvasthāyāṃ saṃskāramiti vyāpakaviruddhopalabdhiḥ | pratiṣedhyasya tatsvabhāvatvasya yadvyāpakaṃ saṃskāranirapekṣatvaṃ tadviruddhaṃ tadapekṣatvamiti cittasya doṣātmakatvakṣatiḥ ||



ekādaśo'pyayuktaḥ | cetasastattatsaṃskārātiśaye prajñātiśayadarśanāt ||



na ca dvādaśaḥ | paralokaprasādhanāt | tathā hi,



yaccittaṃ taccittāntaraṃ pratisandhatte |

yathedānīntanaṃ cittam |

cittaṃ ca maraṇakālabhāvīti svabhāvahetuḥ |



na cārhaccaramacittena vyabhicāraḥ | tasyāgamamātrataḥ pratītatvāt | niḥkleśacittāntarajananād vā | hetorvā kleśe satīti viśeṣaṇādityanāgatabhavasiddhiḥ | evaṃ yaccittaṃ taccittāntarapūrvakaṃ yathedānīntanaṃ cittam | cittaṃ ca janmasamayabhāvītyarthataḥ kāryaheturityatītabhavasiddhiḥ ||



na ca trayodaśaḥ | doṣakāraṇasyātmadarśanasya yadviruddhaṃ nairātmyadarśanaṃ tasya nirupadravatvāt | bhūtārthatvāt | svabhāvatvācca | sarvadāvasthiteḥ | tannāyaṃ viśeṣaṇāsiddho'pi hetuḥ | tathāpī dṛśo'bhyāso na kasya cid dṝśyata iti cet | na dṛśyatām | saṃbhāvanā tāvadaśakyapratiṣedhā | idānīntanajanapravṛtiścāvyāhateti nāparaṃ gamyate | ata evedaṃ saṃbhāvanānumānamucyate ||



na caiṣa viruddho hetuḥ | sapakṣe kāminyākāre saṃbhavāt | na cānaikāntikaḥ | abhyāsasahitaceto guṇasphuṭapratibhāsayoḥ kāryakāraṇayorghaṭakumbhakārayoriva sarvopasaṃhāreṇa pratyakṣānupalambhataḥ kāryakāraṇabhāvasiddhāvabhyāsasahitacetoguṇatvasya sādhanasya sphuṭapratibhāsakaraṇayogyatayā vyāptisiddheḥ | tathā hi vyāptyadhikaraṇe kāmāturavartini yuvatyākāre sādaranirantaradīrghakālābhyāsasahitacetoguṇāt pūrvamanupalabdhiḥ sphuṭābhasya | paścādabhyāsasaṃvedanaṃ sphuṭābhasaṃvedanamiti | trividhapratyakṣānupalambhasādhyaḥ kāryakāraṇabhāvaḥ sphuṭapratibhāsābhyāsasacivacittākārayoriyamupapannā sarvopasaṃhāravatī vyāptiḥ | ato'naikāntikatāpyasaṃbhavinītyanavadyo hetuḥ ||



nanu kathamanumānataḥ sarvajñasiddhipratyāśā | tasya parokṣatvena tatpratibaddhaliṅgā niścayāt kiṃ ca sarvajñasattāsādhane sarvo heturna trayīṃ doṣajātimatipatati | sarvajñe hi dharmiṇyasiddhatvam | asarvajñe hi viruddhatvam | ubhayātmakepyanaikāntikatvamiti ||



api ca abhyāsāt kāraṇātkāryasya sphuṭābhasya pratītau nāvaśyaṃ kāraṇāni kāryavanti bhavantītyanaikāntikatā | atha sphuṭībhāvayogyatānumīyate | sāpi śaktirucyate | sā ca kārye'nantarā sāntarā vā | tatrādyā kāryasamadhigamyā | na cādhigatakāryasya tayā kaścidupayogaḥ | dvitīyā tu kāryāvasāyamaikāntikaṃ na sādhayet ||



na ca kāryāpratītau yogyatāniścayaḥ saṃbhavī | nāpi yogyatāmātrasādhanekṛtārthaḥ sāghanavādī | sarvajñajñāne kārye vivādasya tādavasthyād | bhavatu sphuṭībhāvasya siddhiḥ | tathāpi kaḥ prastāvaḥ sarvajñavivāde sādhanamārabdhavataḥ sphuṭatvaṃ cetasaḥ sādhayitum ||



kiṃ ca prasiddhānumāne bhūtalasya dharmiṇaḥ kumbhakāraghaṭayorapi dharmayoḥ pratītatvāt kāryakāraṇabhāvo grahītuṃ śakyata eva | prastute tu kāmāturasantānavartino yuvatyākārasya dharmiṇastatpragatābhyāsasphuṭatvayorapi dharmayoḥ parokṣatvāt | kathaṃ kāryakāraṇagṛhītiḥ | yathā ca naiyāyikaṃ prati yuṣmābhirucyate pratyakṣato na kāryamātraṃ puruṣavyāptaṃ sidhyati | kiṃ tvavāntarameva ghaṭajātīyaṃ kāryamiti tathā nākāramātramabhyāsapūrvakaṃ sidhyati | kiṃ tvavāntarameva yuvatyākārasāmānyamiti vyaktameva | na cābhyāsakāryaḥ sphuṭībhāvaḥ | tadabhāve'pi svapne darśanāt ||



kiṃ ca sarvavido'pi yadi caturāryasatyaparijñānataḥ sarvajñatāsthitiḥ, tarhi ghaṭādikatipayavastujñāne'pi sarvajñateti sādhvī śuddhiḥ | api ca



jñānavān mṛgyate kaścit taduktapratipattaye |

ajñopadeśakaraṇe vipralambhanaśaṅkibhiḥ ||



iti yuṣmābhirevocyate | na ca sarvajñānavān viśeṣaniṣṭhatayādhigantuṃ śakyate | na cāsya sattāmātrasiddhau kaścidupayogaḥ, pravṛtteranaṅgatvāditi sarvamasamañjasam ||



atrocyate | na vayaṃ sākṣātsarvajñasattāpratijñāyāṃ hetuvyāpāramanumanyāmahe | bhūdharādhīnavahnisattāvat | kintu caturāryasatyākārasvarūpe dharmiṇi sphuṭābhatvasya sādhyasyāyogavyavacchedārthaṃ parvate'gnimātrāyogavyavacchedavat | sphuṭābhatvaṃ tu kāminyākārādidṛṣṭānte dṛṣṭameva | tacca parvatīyāgnivat | pakṣadharmatābalataḥ satyacatuṣṭayādhikaraṇaṃ sidhyat sarvajñatāmācakṣmahe | yathoktam



ityabhyāsabalāt parisphuṭadaśākoṭiḥ sphurat saṃbhavī

heyādeyatadaṅgalakṣaṇaguṇaḥ sarvajñatā saiva naḥ || iti |



tadatrābhyāsasahitacaturāryasatyākāraḥ samagro dharmī sāmagryamabhyāsaviśiṣṭacetoguṇatvamātraṃ hetuḥ sphuṭībhāvayogyatāsādhyam | yathā sāgnitvānagnitvasandehe parvatātmā pramāṇapratīto dharmī | tathātrāpi sarvajñatvāsarvajñatvavivāde'hi pratyātmaviditaḥ satyacatuṣṭayākāro dharmī | tasmāt sphuṭābhatvena sādhyena dṛṣṭānte vyāptisiddherastyeva tatpratibaddhaliṅganiścayaḥ | sādhyasandehe'pi dharmiṇaścaturāryasatyākārasya siddherna trividhadoṣajāteravasaraḥ | yogyatāyāḥ prasādhanena ca kāraṇāt kāryapratītāvanaikāntikatvamityapyanabhyupagamapratihatam | yogyatā ca sāntaraiva sādhyate | iyaṃ ca na gamayatu nāmaikāntataḥ kāryasattvam | anupapadyamānaṃ punarasya saṃbhavamākṣipatyeva | tadā bhāvini kārye sandehe'pi kāraṇayogyatā niścīyata eva | brīhyādau bhāviphalāniścayepi yogyatāniścayena pravṛtteḥ | anyathā śilāśakalāderapyupādānaprasaṅgaḥ |



tajjātīyasya śarāvasthapaṅkoptasya sāmarthyamupalabdhamiti cet | atrāpi kāminyākāre bhāvanājātīyasya sphuṭībhāvakaraṇayogyatā dṛṣṭeti samānam |



evaṃ yogyatāmātrasādhanenaiva kṛtārthaḥ sādhanavādī | sarvajñakāraṇabhāvāttadabhāvavādināṃ nirdalanāt | kāryasya va traikālikasya sambhāvanāprasādhanāt | muttkyarthināṃ ca pravṛtteravirodhāt | vādino'pi tanmātrasādhanasyābhipretatvāt | ataeva kaḥ prastāvaḥ sarvajñasattāvivāde sphuṭībhāvasādhanasyetyādyapyanavakāśam | sarvajñaśabdena sphuṭībhāvayogyatāyā vivakṣitatvāt | tathā kāryakāraṇapratītirapi saṃbhavatyeva | tathā hi kāminyabhyāsasantatisahacāri saṃbhramakāyavacodarśanameva kāminyākārasya tadbhāvanāyāśca darśanam | tathābhūtakāyavaco'darśanameva bhāvanāyā adarśanam | evaṃ sphuṭapratibhāsasantatisahacāriviśiṣṭakāyavacodarśanaṃ sphuṭapratibhāsadarśanam | tathāvasthitakāyavaco'darśanameva sphuṭapratibhāsādarśanamityastyeva prastute'pi pratyakṣānupalambhataḥ kāryakāraṇabhāvapratītiḥ | iyaṃ ca tathāvasthakāmāturaśarīravacanagrahaṇe tadekadeśabhūtayuvatyākārābhyāsasphuṭapratibhāsagrahaṇavyavasthā vyāvahārikeṇāvaśyaṃ svīkartavyā | anyathā cityacaityarūparasagandhasparśaparamāṇupuñjādyātmakasya kumbhakāraghaṭapradeśāderapi rūpaikadeśagrāhakaṃ cakṣuḥpratyakṣaṃ na samudāyavyavasthāpakamiti sarvavyāvahārikapramāṇocchedaprasaṅgaḥ | tathā bāhyaghaṭakāminyādīnāṃ śaktikṛtasya mahato jātibhedasya saṃbhavādanyajātīyavyāptigrahe'nyajātīyād buddhimadanumānamayuktam | saṃkalpārūḍhānāṃ tu jalajvalanayuvatyākārādīnāṃ bāhyatvenādhyastānāmapi vijñānaikasvarūpatayaikajātīyatvamastīti bhāvanāsahitākāramātreṇaiva vaiśadyavyāptirastu ||



na ca svapne sphuṭatāvyabhicāraḥ | bhāvanāsiddhalakṣaṇayorhetvorjātibhede tatkāryayorekatvābhimāne'pi jātibhedasyāvaśyaṃ svīkartavyatvāt | dṛśyate hi siddhasādhyā vaiśadyajātiranapekṣya viparītabhāvanāṃ nidrāvicchede vicchidyamānā | bhāvanābhāvinī tu na vinā vipakṣābhyāsaṃ jāgrato'pi yadāhuḥ



svapne'pi sphuṭatā tathaiva na tathāpyekatvamevānayo -

rna prākārasamatvameva samatāṃ jāteḥ samāmaṃgati |

anyannidhanirodhabādhyamitaradbādhyaṃ prayatnaiḥ puna-

rvaiśadyaṃ viparītabhāvanabalān nairghṛṇyabhede yathā || iti ||



yadapi ghaṭādikatipayajñāne'pi sarvajñaḥ syādityuktam | tatrāpi



ghaṭādiprakṛtāśeṣavedane'pi bhayaṃ bhavā -

ddhīyet yadi ko doṣaḥ so'pi sarvajñatāṃ vrajet |



saṃsāraduḥkhamokṣāya spṛhayanto vayaṃ puna -

rbhajema tadupāyajñaṃ sthātuṃ tadgītavartmani ||



ityuttaraṃ draṣṭavyam | tathā sattāmātre vipratipannān prati sattaiva kevalā prasādhitā | viśeṣajijñāsāyāṃ tu pramāṇopapannakṣaṇikanairātmyavādina eva sugatasya bhagavataḥ sarvajñatā |



ata etadapi nirastaṃ yadāha bhaṭṭaḥ

sugato yadi sarvajñaḥ kapilo neti kā pramā |

athobhāvapi sarvajñau matabhedaḥ kathaṃ tayoḥ || iti ||



tasmāt

uktakrameṇa munirājanaye pramāyāḥ

śaktirvyanakti gatimapramitāṃ kṛpāṃ ca |

anyatra tu dvayamudastamado'stamāne

tenaika eva śaraṇaṃ sa nirātmavādī ||



iti viśeṣasiddhirapyanavadyeti sarvamanākulamākulādhayaḥ pare na pratipadyante | sādhane'sminnavadye'pi durnītidahanadagdhabuddhayaḥ punarapyetadācakṣate | bādhakapramāṇasadbhāvāt sarvajñasyāsadvyavahāro yuktaḥ sadvyavahārapratiṣedho vā prasādhakapramāṇābhāvādveti ||



atra vicāryate kiṃ punarasya bhagavato bādhakaṃ pramāṇaṃ pratyakṣamanumānaṃ śabdādikaṃ veti vikalpāḥ ||



na tāvat pratyakṣam | pratyakṣaṃ hi kevalapradeśādau pravartamānaṃ svapravṛttiyogyameva tatra vastu pratiṣedhati | na vastumātram | na ca sarvajñasya pratyakṣapravṛttiyogyatāsti | svabhāvaviprakṛṣṭatvāttasya ||



syādetat | na vayaṃ pratyakṣaṃ pravartamānamabhāvaṃ sādhayatīti brūmaḥ | kiṃ tarhi | nivartamānam | tathā hi yatra vastuni pratyakṣasya nivṛttistasyāsadbhāvaḥ | yathā śaśaviṣāṇādeḥ | yatra tu pratyakṣasya pravṝttistasya sadbhāvo yathā ghaṭādeḥ | asti ca sarvajñe pratyakṣanivṛttiḥ | tadasyāpyabhāvaḥ kena nivāryata iti ||



ucyate | nivartamānaṃ pratyakṣamabhāvaṃ sādhayatīti ko'rthaḥ | kiṃ pratyakṣasya yā nivṛttistato'bhāvasiddhiḥ, nivṛttisahitādvā pratyakṣāt, nivṛttādvā pratyakṣāditi |



nādyaḥ pakṣaḥ | satyapi vastuni pratyakṣanivṛtterupalabhyamānāyā vastvabhāvaniya tatvāsiddheḥ ||



nāpi dvitīyaḥ | svābhāvena saha kasyacit sāhityānupapatteḥ | anyathā tannivṛttatvānupapatteḥ ||



na ca tṛtīyaḥ | tathā hi nivṛttāt pratyakṣādabhāvasiddhirityasataḥ pratyakṣādityuktaṃ bhavati | na cāsato hetubhāvaḥ saṃbhavati | sarvasāmarthyavirahalakṣaṇatvāttasya | na hi tacca nāsti tena ca pratipattiriti nyāyyam | ato na tāvat pratyakṣaṃ sarvajñabādhakam ||



nāpyanumānam | taddhi trividhaliṅgajatvena trividham | tatra kāryasvabhāvayorvidhisādhanatvāt, pratiṣedhe sādhye'navasaraḥ | na ca dṛśyānupalambhaḥ tatprabhedo vā kāryānupalabdhyādiryogyānupalambho vā parābhimato'tra pramāṇam | sarvajñatāyāḥ svabhāvaviprakṛṣṭatvenādṛśyatvāt ||



nanu kāraṇānupalambhādeva sarvajñatāpratiṣedhaḥ sidhyati | tathā hi tatkāraṇamindriyavijñānaṃ vā mānasaṃ vā bhāvanābalajaṃ vā | bhāvanābalajamapi cākṣuṣaṃ vā, mānasaṃ veti vikalpāḥ |



tatra na tāvaccakṣurindriyavijñānamaśeṣārthagrāhi | tasya pratiniyatārthaviṣayatvāt | deśāntare kālāntare [ca] tathaiva pratiniyamaḥ | anyathā hetuphalabhāvābhāvaprasaṅgāt | anekendriyavaiyarthyaprasaṅgācca | tathā ca kārikā



ekendriyapramāṇena sarvajño yena kalpyate |

nūnaṃ sa cakṣuṣā sarvān rasādīn pratipadyate||



yajjātīyaiḥ pramāṇaiśca yajjātīyārthadarśanam |

bhavedidānīṃ lokasya tathā kālāntare'pyabhūt || iti ||



tataścaivaṃ prayogaḥ kartavyaḥ |

buddhacakṣurnātītādiviṣayam |

cakṣustvāt |

asmadādicakṣurvat |

acakṣurvā |

atītādiviṣayatvāt |

śabdavat |



iti sarvametat śrotrādāvapi draṣṭavyam | na cakṣurādiprakarṣaḥ svārthamatikramya dṛṣṭa | kārikā



yatrāpyatiśayo dṛṣṭaḥ sa svārthānatilaṅghanāt |

dūrasūkṣmādivṛttau syānna rūpe śrotravṛttitaḥ (?tā) ||



bṛhaṭṭīkā ca

śrotragamyeṣu śabdeṣu dūrasūkṣmopalabdhitaḥ |

puruṣātiśayo dṛṣṭo na rūpādyupalambhanāt ||

cakṣuṣāpi ca dūrasthasūkṣmarūpopalambhanam |

kriyate'tiśayaprāptyā na tu śabdādidarśanam ||



na caitad vaktavyam | yadi nāmaikaikenendriyeṇa tajjñānena vā sarvasyāgrahaṇaṃ tathāpi pañcabhirindriyaistajjñānairvā svasvaviṣayapravṛttairevātiśayaprāptairbhaviṣyatīti | ekaikasyāpi niḥśeṣasvaviṣayagrahaṇādarśanāt | paracittādyatīndriyāṇāṃ grahaṇā(bhāvā) cca | tadevamindriyamindriyavijñānaṃ vā nāśeṣagrāhīti na prathamaḥ pakṣaḥ ||



nāpi dvitīyaḥ | tathā hi yadyapi tanmānasaṃ sarvārthaviṣayaṃ tathāpi na tasya svātantryeṇārthagrahaṇe vyāpāro'sti| manaso bahirasvātantryāt | anyathā'ndhavadhirādyabhāvaprasaṅgaḥ | teṣāmapi manaso bhāvāt | pāratantrye cendriyajñānaparigṛhītārthaviṣayatvādatītānāgatadūrasūkṣmavyavahitaparacittāderarthasyendriyaparijñānāgocarasya manasā paricchedo na prāpnotīti kathaṃ sarvajñatā ||



na ca bhāvanābalajaṃ sarvārthagrāhīti tṛtīyaḥ pakṣaḥ | tathā hi tadbhāvanābalajamapi yadīndriyāśritamiti caturthaḥ pakṣaḥ, tadā so'saṅgataḥ | indriyasya tajjñānasya ca niyataviṣayaviṣayatvapratipādanāt ||



atha bhāvanābalena tathāvidhamutpannaṃ manovijñānaṃ sarvārthagrāhīti pañcamaḥ pakṣaḥ | tadānvarthatvāt pratyakṣaśabdasya tasya ca bhāvanābalāvalambino'pyanakṣajatvāt nārthasākṣātkāritvamastīti pratipādanīyam | kiṃ ca svaviṣayasīmānamanatipatyaiva prakarṣo'pi dṛśyate | na tu sarvaviṣayatveneti | kathaṃ tenāpi sakalārthajātādivedanam |

jyotirvicca prakṛṣṭo'pi candrārkagrahaṇādiṣu |

na svargadevatāpūrvapratyakṣīkaraṇe kṣamaḥ ||

pratyakṣasūtre tu kāśikākāraḥ paramatamāśaṅkyāha, tanna, avagataviṣayatvād bhāvanāyāḥ | na cākasmādavagaterūtpattiḥ saṃbhavati | sarvotpattimatāṃ kāraṇavattvāt | atha pramāṇāntarāvagataṃ bhāvyate | kiṃ bhāvanayā | tata eva tatsiddheḥ | kiṃ ca tatpramāṇam | na tāvadanumānaṃ dharmādharmayoḥ pūrvamagrahaṇena tadvayāptaliṅgasaṃvedanāsaṃbhavāt | jagadvaividhyārthāpatterapi hi kimapi kāraṇamastīti etāvadunnīyate | na tu kaścidviśeṣaḥ | na cānirdiṣṭaviśeṣaviṣayā bhāvanā bhavati | yogaśāstreṣvapi hi viśeṣā eva dhyeyatayopadiśyante |

tasmād bhūtamabhūtaṃ vā yad yadevābhibhāvyate |

bhāvanāpariniṣpattau tat sphuṭā kalpadhoḥ phalam ||



api ca bhāvanābalajamapramāṇam | gṛhītagrahaṇāt | yāvadeva hi gṛhītaṃ tāvadeva bhāvanayā viṣayīkriyate | mātrayāpyadhikaṃ na bhāvanā gocarayati | yogābhyāsāhitasaṃskārapāṭavanimittā hi smṛtireva bhāvaneti gīyate | sā ca na pramāṇamiti sthitameva | na ca taduttarakālaṃ sākṣātkārijñānamudetīti pramāṇamasti | indriyasannikarṣamantareṇārthasākṣātkārasya kvacidadarśanāt | yogināṃ dharmādharmayoraparokṣapratibhāsaṃ jñānaṃ nāsti, indriyasannikarṣābhāvādasmadādivat ||



vācaspatistu kaṇikāyāmāha | satyaṃ śrutānumānagocaracāriṇī bhāvanā viśadābhajñānaheturiti nāvajānīmahe | kintu yadviṣayajātaṃ tadeva viśadapratipattigocaraḥ | na jātu rūpabhāvanāprakarṣo rasaviṣayavijñānavaiśadyāya kalpate |



nanu na viṣayāntaravaiśadyahetubhāvaṃ bhāvanāyāḥ saṃgirāmahe | kintu śrutānumānaviṣayavaiśadyahetutāmeva | tadviṣayaśca samastavastunairātmyamiti tadbhāvanāprakarṣaḥ samastavastunairātmyaṃ viśadayan samastavastuviśadatāmantareṇa tadanupapatteḥ samastavastuvaiśadyamāvahatītyuktam |



satyamuktam | ayuktaṃ tu tat | tathā hi nāgamānumānagocaratvaṃ nirātmanāṃ vastubhedānāṃ paramārthasatām | nahi te eteṣāmanyanivṛttimātrāvagāhinī paramārthasatsvalakṣaṇaṃ gocarayitumarhataḥ | nāpi tadviṣayā bhāvanā | tadagrāhyamapi svalakṣaṇaṃ tadadhyavaseyatayā tadviṣaya iti tadyonirapi bhāvanā tadviṣayeti tatprakarṣastadvaiśadyaheturiti cet | na | tadadhyavaseyasyāpi paramārthasatvābhāvāt | tathā hi yadanumānena gṛhyate yaccādhyavasīyate te dve apyanyanivṛttī, na vastunī | svalakṣaṇāvagāhitve'bhilāpasaṃsargayogyapratibhāsānupapatteḥ ||

tathā ca tadutpatteḥ tadavyabhicāraniyama iti cet | na | arthasya hyālambanapratyayatvavijñānaṃ pratīndriyāpekṣatvena vyāptam | taccāsmātsvaviruddhopalabdhyā vyāvartamānamālambanapratyayatāmapyarthasya nivartayati | na khalvindhanaviśeṣo dhūmaheturiti vināpi dahanaṃ sahasreṇāpi saṃskārairdhūbhamādhate | tadādhāne vā samastakārya hetvanumānocchedaprasaṅgaḥ | bhāvanāyāśca bhūtārthāyā arthānapekṣāyā eva viśadavijñānajananasāmarthyamupalabdha kāmāturādivartinyā iti bhūtārthāpi tannirapekṣaiva samartheti nārthasyālambanapratyayatvaṃ śakyāvagamam | api ca ālambanapratyayā api ta evāsya kṣaṇā yujyante, ye tasya purastāttanā avyavadhānāstathā ca ta evāsya grāhyā na punaḥ pūrvatarāḥ | tatkālā anāgatāśceti na sarvaviṣayatā | atha dṛśyamānā dhātutrayaparyāpannāḥ prāṇabhṛto janmāntaraparivartopāttātītānāgataskandhakadambakopādānopādeyātmāna iti taddarśanaṃ dṛśyamānatādātmyena tadviśeṣaṇatayātītānāgatamapi gocarayati | na cāsmadādidarśanasyāpi tathātvaprasaṅgaḥ, rāgādimalāvṛtatvāt | tasya ca bhagavato nirmṛṣṭanikhilakleśopakleśamalaṃ vijñānamanāvaraṇaṃ paritaḥ pradyotamāna mālambanapratyayaṃ sarvākāraṃ gocarayet | tasya ca sākṣāt paramparayā ca kathañcit sarveṇa saṃbandhād deśkālaviprakīrṇavastumātraviśiṣṭasvabhāvatayā tathaiva gocarayet | na caitat sarvagrahaṇamantareṇeti sarvaviṣayamasya vijñānamanāvaraṇaṃ siddham |



tadanupapannam | vicārāsahatvāt | tathā hīyamālambanapratyayasya sarvaviśiṣṭātmatā bhāvikī na vā | bhāvikī cet | na tāvatsarvasminnālambanapratyaye caikā saṃbhavati | ekasyānekavṛttitvānupapatteḥ | nānā cet | ālambanapratyayāśca sarve ceti tattvam | tathā ca na saṃbandha iti na tadgrahaṇe sarvagrahaṇam | vikalpāropitatayā tvavikalpakaṃ samastavastuviṣayaṃ sarvatra pratīyata iti subhāṣitam | svālambanapratyayamātragocaramevāvikalpakaṃ samastavastuviśiṣṭālambanādhyavasāyajananam | tenādhyavasāyānugatavyāpāramavikalpakamapi samastavastuviṣayaṃ bhavati | yadāha



vyavasyantīkṣaṇādeva sarvākārānmahādhiyaḥ |



iti cet | atha katipayavastvālambanānubhavasya kutastya eṣa mahimā yataḥ samastavastvavasāya iti | rāgādyāvaraṇavigamāditi cet | tarhi yathāvad vastūni paśyet | na punarasmādapārthatvamasyeti | tadayuktaṃ vikalpanirmāṇakauśalamasya yujyeta | tattvāvarakatā hi sulabhamalānāṃ kleśādīnāṃ na punarvikalpanirmāṇapratibandhatā | tasmād bhāvanāprakarṣamātrajatvāt, arthāvyabhicāraniyamābhāvāt, viśadābhamapi saṃśayākrāntatvādapramāṇamapratyakṣaṃ ceti sāmpratam ||



yadapi sadarthaprakāśanaṃ buddheḥ svabhāvo'sadarthatvaṃ cāgantukamiti, asati bādhake sadarthatvameveti, tadayuktam | anumitabhāvitavahniviṣayaviśadābhajñāna prāmāṇyaprasaṅgāt tadvidhasya kvacid bādhadarśanādaprāmāṇyamihāpi samānam | anyatrābhiniveśāt | tadiha yadi viśadābhavijñānahetutvaṃ bhāvanāyā viśeṣaṇatrayayogena sādhyate, tataḥ siddhasādhanam | bhavatu tathāgatastathābhūtavijñānavān | na tvetadvijñānamasya pratyakṣamapramāṇatvāt | tathā cāpakṣadharmatayā hetorasiddhatā | prasiddhadharmaṇo dharmiṇo'jijñāsitaviśeṣatayā anumeyatvābhāvāt | atha pratyakṣavijñānahetutā bhāvanāyāḥ paraṃ pratyasiddhā sādhyate, tathā ca sati sādhyaviparyayavyāpterviruddhatā hetoḥ, viśeṣaṇatrayavatyā api bhāvanāyā viśadābhabhrāntavijñānajanakatvāt | dṛṣṭāntasya ca sādhyahīnatvāt | yadā ca bhūtārthabhāvanājanitatve'pi nāsya prāmāṇyamabhūtārthatvāt, tadā yaducyate,



nirupadravabhūtārthasvabhāvasya viparyayaiḥ |

na bādhā yatnavattve'pi buddhestatpakṣapātataḥ ||



iti | tadanupapannam | bhūtārthatve'pi hi buddheḥ tatpakṣapātitā bhūtārthaiḥ pratipakṣairbādho na bhavet | abhūtārthā tviyaṃ sātmībhāva māpannāpyātmātmīyadṛṣṭiriva saṃbhavadbādhā | tasmāt pratipakṣavibṛddhimātram | na tvātyantikī vivṛddhiḥ saṃbhavati | yayā samūlakāṣaṃ kaṣitā doṣā na punarudbhaviṣyanti | ataevāsthirāśrayatve'pi apunaryatnāpekṣatve'pi asya nātyantikī niṣṭhā saṃbhavati | ātmātmīyadṛśa iva virodhipratyayasaṃbhavāt | tatsaṃbhavaścābhūtārthatvāt | śrutānumitaviṣayaṃ tu pratyakṣaṃ na saṃbhavatyeva | tayoḥ parokṣarūpāvagāhitvāt | pratyakṣasya ca tadviparītatvāt | tadgatabhūtābhūtārthānuvidhāyitvena svaviṣaye śrutānumānajñānāpekṣayā prāmāṇyānupapatteśva ||



tat siddhametat bhūtārthabhāvanāprakarṣaparyantajavijñānamapratyakṣamarthe'prāmāṇyāt |

yathā kāmāturasya kāminīvijñānam |

nitāntaviśadābhatve sati bhāvanā (prakarṣa) jatvāt |

yannitāntaviśadābhatve sati bhāvanāprakarṣajaṃ vijñānaṃ tadapramāṇam |



yathānumitabhāvitavahniviśadavijñānamiti | samānahetujatvaṃ samānarūpatayā vyāptam | yadāha



tadatadrūpiṇo bhāvāstadatadrūpahetujāḥ |



iti | tadasya prāmāṇyaṃ nivartamānaṃ tulyahetujatvamapi nivartayati | na caiṣa bhūtārthabhāvanāprakarṣaparyantajo'nindriyasannikṛṣṭānumitabhāvitavahnivaiśadye ca nirātmakasamastavastuvaiśadye ca viśiṣyate | na ca rāgādyāvaraṇaviraho viśeṣaḥ | na khalvete kambalādibadāvarakā vijñānasya | kiṃ tu tadākṣiptamanā vividhaviṣayabhedatṛṣṇādiparipluto na śaknoti bbāvayitumiti bhāvanādaramātra eva tadvirahopayogaḥ | asti cehāpi śiśirabharasaṃbhṛta jaḍimamantharatarakāyakāṇḍasyānumitavahnibhāvanābhiyoga iti na hetu bhedataḥ pratibandhasiddhiḥ | na caikapārthivāṇusamavāyikāraṇajanmabhirabhinnauṣṇyāpekṣaikavahnisaṃyogāsamavāyikāraṇairgandhara-sarūpasparśairnānāsvabhāvairvyabhicāraḥ | sāmarthyavaicitryādekatve'pi pārthivasya paramāṇoḥ | tadvaicitryaṃ ca kāryavaicitryopalambhāt | tacca nityasamavetaṃ nityam, kāraṇasāmarthyaprakrameṇa ca pārthivāvayavini kārye jāyata iti avadātam | pariśiṣṭaṃ tu granthavyākhyānasamaye vyākhyāsyāmaḥ | tadāstāṃ tāvat ||



trilocanastu nyāyaprakīrṇake prāha | iha kila duḥkhasamudayanirodhamārgākhyānyāryāṇāṃ satyāni catvāri | teṣāṃ satyānāṃ svarūpasākṣātkārijñānaṃ yogipratyakṣam | tatra duḥkhaṃ phalabhūtāḥ pañcopādānaskandhāḥ | tacca svarūpato jñātavyam | ta eva hetubhūtāḥ samudayaḥ | sa ca prahātavyaḥ | niḥkleśāvasthā cittasya nirodhaḥ | sa ca sākṣātkartavyaḥ | tadavasthāprāptiheturnairātmyakṣaṇikatvādyākāraścittaviśeṣo mārgaḥ | sa ca bhāvayitavya iti saugatamatam |



atrocyate | mārgastāvat pramāṇapariśuddho na bhavatītyuktaṃ prāk | ato'bhūtaviṣayasya vikalpasyābhyāsādasatyārthavijñānaṃ syānna saṃvādi | api ca pramāṇapariśuddhamārgavādo śākyaḥ pramāṇaṃ pṛṣṭaḥ san satvākhyaliṅgajaṃ vikalpaṃ brūyāt | tato yāvadvikalpena darśitarūpaṃ tatsarvamasat | śabdasaṃsṛṣṭatvāt | tasmiṃśca bhāvyamāne sattve bhāvakasya vikalpakasya bhāvanopahite viśadābhatve śabdasaṃsṛṣṭagrāhyanimittaṃ vikalpakatvaṃ nivartate | tadvyāvṛttau grāhyamapi śabdasaṃsṛṣṭaṃ nivartate | ato nirvikalpakamapi yogijñānaṃ nirviṣayaṃ prasaktam | yattu pāramārthikaṃ vastvātmakaṃ na tatpramāṇapariśuddham | śuddhau vā kiṃ bhāvanayā | bhāvyasya sākṣādvijñātatvāt | na cānyasmin śabdasaṃsṛṣṭe bhāvyamāne sphuṭamanyadrūpaṃ bhavati | śokāturasyāpi niruddhendriyavyāpārasya tanayabhāvanāyāṃ mitrādipratibhāsaprasaṅgāt |



kṣaṇikatve bhāvye samāropite vāstavaṃ kṣaṇikatvameva yogivijñānapratibhāsīti cet | na | satyāsatyayorekatvābhāvātmake hi bhede'satyabhāvane'pi yadi satyapratibhāsaḥ, tarhi satyatanayābhyāse'pi śabdasāmyādabhedinastanayasaṃjñakasya kasyacidaparasya svarūpapratibhāsaprasaṅgaḥ | tasmādabhūtaviṣayābhyāsaṃ nirvikalpakamapi saṃvādānna pramāṇamiti na sarvajñasiddhiḥ |



api ca bhāvyasya vastunaḥ punaḥ punaścetasi niveśanamabhyāsaḥ | sa ca brahmacaryeṇa tapasā sādaraṃ dīrghakālaṃ nirantaramāsevito dṛḍhabhūmirasphuṭākārasya vikalpasya sphuṭābhatvajanana iṣṭaḥ | sa kṣaṇikatvanairātmyavādinā draḍhayitumaśakyaḥ | tathā hi bhāvyagrāhī yādṛśo vikalpa utpannastādṛśa eva niranvayaṃ nirudhyate | tasmiṃśca niruddhe punaḥ punarutpadyamānaḥ pratyayastādṛśa evāpūrva utpadyate | tadanena paryāyeṇa kalpasahasre'pi apūrvotpatteraviśeṣānna tajjanyaḥ saṃskāro'bhyāsa utpadyate | etena viśiṣṭavijñānotpādo'bhyāso vyākhyātaḥ | niranvayaniruddhaṃ hi pūrvapūrvavijñānaṃ kathamuttarottarāvasthāntaraṃ viśiṣṭaṃ janayet | sarvathā kramabhāvibhiḥ pratyayairavasthitameva rūpaṃ śakyaṃ saṃskartum | anavasthitaṃ tu svotpādavyayayogimātramityaviśiṣṭaṃ syāt | tasmāt pratyāvṛttibhāvyavastupratyayajaḥ saṃskāro vyutthānapratyayasaṃskāravirodhī yasyāsti tasyaivātmanaḥ prakṛṣṭo'pi bhāvyasākṣātkāripratyayaheturitiyuktaṃ paśyāmaḥ | kiṃ ca cittamekāgraṃ vyavasthāpayituṃ vikṣepatyāgārthamabhyāso'nuṣṭhīyate | na ca kṣaṇikavādināṃ vikṣiptaṃ cittamasti | pratyarthaniyatatayā sarvasya cittaikāgratvāt | tathā hi yadi sākāraṃ vikalpavijñānaṃ svapratibhāsaniyatatvāt ekāgrameva tat kathaṃ vikṣipyate | atha nirākāraṃ tathāpi vikalpakaṃ prati vikalpyaṃ bhinnameva | na tu sarvavikalpānāmekaṃ vikalpyamasti | tato nirākāramapi vijñānaṃ niyatālambanatvādekāgrameva, na vikṣiptam | sarvathā nāsti kṣaṇikavādināmekamanekārthamavasthitaṃ cittaṃ yadekāgraṃ kartumiṣyate | tadevamabhyāsānupapatterasarvajñavatyāṃ cittasantatau na ca vijñānaviśeṣaḥ sarvajñaḥ sidhyatīti ||

tadākāratvena tadviṣayatvamiti cet | tat kimidānīṃ sautrāntikamatamabhyupagataṃ satyam | tathāpyatotānāgataviṣayatvaṃ katham | na hyasataḥ kaścidākāro'sti | dṛṣṭaśrutānumitākāraśca yadi bhāvanābalataḥ spaṣṭa evāvabhāti, tathā ca satibhrāntameva yogipratyakṣaṃ syāt | avidyamānasya vidyamānākāratayā pratibhāsanāt, svapnavat | tathā(') visaṃvāditvānna bhrāntam | na | anumānajñānasya bhrāntatve'pi avisaṃvāditvābhyupagamāt |



atha bhrāntasyāpi saṃvāditvena prāmāṇyam | tathāpi pratyakṣalakṣaṇasyābhrāntatvaviśeṣaṇaṃ virudhyate | na cāvisaṃvāditvamapi tvanmate yuktam | yataḥ prāpyārthadarśakatvaṃ vā, pravṛttiviṣayopadarśakatvaṃ vā, avabhātādarthakriyāniṣpattirvā bhavatāmavisaṃvāditvamabhipretam | na caitadatītādyarthajñāne saṃbhavati | vartamānārthajñānasyāpi kṣaṇikatvapakṣe nopapadyata eva | tasmāt saugatānāṃ yogipratyakṣopavarṇanamayuktameveti ||



kiṃ cedamapi vaktumucitam | yadyanumānapūrvakamartheṣu bhāvanābalajajñānamāśvāsabhājanaṃ, tadāstāṃ tāvadanumānapauruṣapratyāśā | pratyakṣeṇāpi cakṣurdahanādikaṃ gṛhītvā bhāvanāprakarṣaparyante jātaṃ sthirataraṃ tadākāravijñānaṃ syāt, yāvanna viparīta bhāvanābhiyogaparyantaḥ | astaṃ gataśca tadviṣayo'vasthāntaraprāpto veti kathaṃ pramāṇopanītavastugocaratve'pi saṃvādāśvāsaḥ | api ca yadā hālika eva havyāśanamanumāya bhāvanayā sphuṭayet, tadā na tadyogijñānaṃ paramārthaviṣayābhāvāditi pratyakṣāntaraprasaṅgaḥ |



kiṃ ca tadyogijñānamindriyajñānādbhinnamabhinnaṃ vā | abhedapakṣe na yogijñānaṃ nāma pratyakṣeṇa bhinnamindriyajñānenaiva saṃgrahāt | na ca bhāvanopaskṛtasantānasya tathodayād bhedavyavasthā | rasāyanādisaṃskārāpekṣayāpi pratyakṣāntaravyavasthāprasaṅgāt | bhedapakṣe ca bhāvanāsaṃbhavaṃ jñānaṃ kṣaṇikasākṣātkāri | indriyajñānaṃ ca syairyagrāhīti sādhvī siddhiḥ | indriyajñānasyāpi tadavasthāyāmasthairyagrahaṇe kṛtaṃ yogijñānena | na ca tasyākasmikaḥ kṣaṇikatvāvabodhaḥ | bhāvanodbhūtavaiśadyasya hi tadbodhaḥ | na cendriyajñānasya bhāvanā | api tu manovijñāne | tāmantareṇāpi sākṣāt kriyālābhe ca bhāvanāvaiyarthyamiti kāraṇābhāvādeva sarvajñapratihatiḥ ||



atrābhidhīyate | yattāvat sarvapadārthasaṃvedanasya kāraṇaṃ kimindriyajñānamityādi valgitaṃ tatra bhāvanābalajaṃ manovijñānameva sarvapadārthagrāhīti pañcama evāsmākaṃ pakṣaḥ | ataḥ pakṣāntarabhāvino doṣā anabhyupagamapratihatāḥ | yaccāsmadabhyupagate pañcame pakṣe dūṣaṇamuktam, anarthatvātpratyakṣaśabdasya, tasya ca bhāvanābalābalambinopya nakṣajatvānnārthasākṣātkāritvamastīti, tadasaṅgatam | tathā hi pratyakṣaśabdasya tāvadakṣāśritatvaṃ vyutpattinimittamarthasākṣātkāritvaṃ tu pravṛttinimittamiti pratipāditam | na ca bhāvanābalāvalambino manovijñānasyānakṣāśritatve'pyarthasākṣātkaraṇe kaścidasti śaktipratighātaḥ | yathā hi cakṣrurindriyaṃ svasāmarthyānatikrameṇa yogyadeśasthamarthamapekṣya svavijñānajanane pravartate, tathā sarvāvidyāparipanthibhūtārthabhāvanāsahitaṃ mana indriyamapi yogyadeśasthamarthaṃ prāpya svavijñānajanane pravartiṣyate | aprāpyakāritāyā ubhayoḥ sādhāraṇatvāt | arthavattāyāśca manaso'pi tadānīmiṣṭatvāt | pṛthagjanasya tu na tādṛśī śaktiḥ, yato netraśrotravanmano'pi tādṛṅmaryādayā yogyadeśasthamarthasahakāriṇamāsādya vedanamutpādayet, sarvāvidyonmūlakasya bhāvanāviśeṣasya sahakāriṇo'bhāvāditi nātiprasaṅgaḥ | tadavasthāyāṃ tu śrutinayanayoriva manaso'pi kiyaddūreṇa viṣayasannidhivyavasthitika eva pramātuṃ kṣamaḥ | kevalametāvaducyate | yāvattena śakyamadhigantuṃ svākārārpaṇasamartha sahakāri vastu tāvaditarajanāsādhāraṇaṃ truṭyadrūpatayā tasya gocarībhavatīti | ata evārthākāro vastuto na bhāvanāmātrajanita iti na visaṃvādaśaṅkāpi | bhāvanayā punastadīyasantāne netra ivāñjanaviśeṣeṇa śaktiratiśayavatī kācidarpitā yatparajanāsādhāraṇadarśanamasya | tasmādanakṣajatve'pi manovijñānasyārthasākṣātkāritvaṃ sambhavati |

atrocyate | manaḥśabdena tāvadasmākamanakṣajaṃ vijñānamevābhipretam | na cāsminnandhabadhirādyabhāvaprasaṅgaḥ | sarvāvidyāpratipakṣabhūtārthabhāvanālakṣaṇasya sahakāriviśeṣasyāndhādīnāmabhāvāt | indriyasannikarṣābhāvāditi tvarthasākṣātkāritvamātrāpekṣayā sandigdhavyatirekitve anaikāntikī kāraṇānupalabdhiḥ | asmadvidhārthasākṣātkāritvāpekṣayā punaḥ siddhasādhanam ||



asmadādiviśeṣaṇaśūnyasyārthasākṣātkāritvamātrasyaivendriyādhīnatvadarśanādanaikāntikatvamasaṃbhavīti cet | yadyevamarthasākṣātkāritvamātrasyendriyavadālokādhīnatvamupalabdhamiti na santamase paśyeyurulūkādayaḥ | atha vyabhicāradarśanādālokasyāvyāpakatvam, vyabhicāraśaṅkayā tarhīndriyasyāpyavyāpakatvam | vyāptyā śaṅkā khaṇḍyata iti cet | śaṅkāsaṃbhavād vyāptirevāsaṃbhavinī | yadi hi prathamata eva vyāptiḥ, vyabhicāro'pi na dṛśyeta |



tasmād vyabhicāradarśanaṃ vyāptiśaithilyādeva | sati ca vyāptiśaithilye śaṅkāpi nyāyādāpatantī kena pratihanyate | ulūkādīnāṃ bhinnajātīyatvādālokābhāve'pyarthasākṣātkāritvamastviti cet | tarhi bhagavato'pi bhūtārthabhāvanāprakarṣaparyantamahāpralayavāyunā nirastānādyavidyāvipakṣasya saṃsārakūpapatitebhyaḥ prāṇibhyo'styevādbhutavaijātyamiti yuktamasyāvidyāpratipakṣabhāvanātiśayasahitātmakānantarapratyayādālambanapratyayācca sākṣādutpannasyendriyamantareṇārthasākṣātkāritvam | ataḥ kāraṇānupalabdhiḥ kāśikākārasya vyāpakaviruddhopalabdhiśca vācaspateḥ sandigdhavyatirekitvādanaikāntikī | sandigdhavyatirekitvaṃ tu dūṣaṇamasmadīśvaradūṣaṇe prasādhitam ||



tasmātsādhāraṇakarmanirjātānāmasmadādīnāmarthasākṣātkāritvamindriyāpekṣatvena vyāptamiti siddhasādhanam | prasiddhānumānasya ca na kṣatirdṛśyatvopādherdhūmādeḥ pratyakṣānupalambhato vyāptigrahaṇāvirodhāt | sāṃsārikāgocarārthasākṣātkāritvamātrāpekṣayā tu sandigdhavyatirekitvam | adṛśyasya pratyakṣānupalambhābhyāṃ kenacid vyāptigrahaṇāyogāt | viparyaye bādhakapramāṇasya cāsaṃbhavāditi | na catīndriyadarśitvaṃ sarvajñatvaṃ vādarśane'pi niṣeddhuṃ śakyate, adṛśyānupalambhato niṣedhāyogāt | kāraṇānupalambhatastanniṣedha iti cet | kāraṇābhāvo'pi adarśanamātrato na sidhyatīti tadavasthaḥ paribhavaḥ ||



yadapi kāśikākāreṇābhihitam, atha pramāṇāntarāvagataṃ bhāvyate, ki bhāvanayā, tata eva tatsiddheriti | tadapyasaṃgatam | pramāṇāntaraṃ hyanumānam | na ca caturāryasatyasvarūpe vastutattve niścite sākṣātkāramantareṇa kleśajñeyāvaraṇakṣatiriti svārthamapi tāvad bhāvanā yuktimatī | tattvasākṣātkāriṇi ca cittasantāne sati śakyasākṣātkriyamidamityanye'pi niścayānantaraṃ sākṣātkriyāyai pravartyante, tadupadiṣṭa svargasādhanaṃ cārthabhāvanayānusarantīti svargāpavargalakṣaṇaparārthasiddhaye ca bhāvanā saphaleti | anyathā tattvāsākṣātkāriṇo lokānatikrāntasya vacanamanādeyameva syāditi kva parārthavārtāpi | yacca kiṃ ca tatpramāṇamityādyārabhya tasmād bhūtamabhūtaṃ veti etatparyantena dharmādharmayoranumānāpravartanamuktam, tatra dharmādharmaśabdena kimabhipretam | yadi kṣaṇikanirātmakavastu tattvam, tadā tasya pratyakṣeṇāniścaye'pi yathā viparyaye bādhakapramāṇabalena vyāptisaṃvedanaṃ tathā kṣaṇabhaṅgasādhanāvasare vyavasthāpitam | atha vastūnāṃ svargādisādhanatvamabhipretam, tadā tadviṣayaparijñānāprasādhane'pi nāsmākaṃ kācit kṣatiḥ | saparikarasaṃsāranirvāṇaparijñānenaivopayuktasarvajñaprasādhanāt | yadāhuḥ

yadapi vācaspatinā satyamityādinā punaḥ punaruttarottaramāśaṅkaya tat kimanumānena vahni vyavasthāpyetyādinā bhāvanābalajasyānumānapūrvakatve visaṃvādamupadarśyopasaṃhṛtam, tanna bhāvanāyā bhūtārthatvaṃ tajjaviśadavijñānaprāmāṇyahetuḥ, vyabhicārāditi | tadasaṅgatam | tathā hyayaṃ vahniviṣayenumānapūrvakabhāvanābalataḥ spaṣṭavahnipratyayaḥ kiṃ vahnerapyutpannaḥ, tathābhūtabhāvanāmātrādeva vā |



prathamapakṣe visaṃvādaśca bahulamupalabhyate iti yaduktaṃ taddurbhāṣitam | sākṣādarthādutpannasyāpi visaṃvādasaṃbhave'nyasyāpi pratyakṣasya hastakatyāgaprasaṅgāt |



dvitīyapakṣe tu bhāvanāprakarṣamātrajasyārthādanutpannasya bahulaṃ visaṃvādopalambhe'pi bhāvanārthābhyāṃ sākṣādutpannasya yogipratyakṣasyāpi visaṃvādasaṃbhava iti sthavīyasī bhrāntiḥ |



nanu yadīndriyaṃ vināpi bhāvanārthābhyāṃ yogijñānamutpadyate, tarhi parvate bhāvanāvahnibhyāṃ vahnijñānamutpadyatāmavisaṃvādi | visaṃvādaśca bahulamupalabhyata iti cet | na | sākṣādvahnerutpāde sati visaṃvādābhāvāt | kevalamutpāda eva durāpaḥ | na hi vayaṃ pramāṇadṛṣṭavastubhāvanāsahitaṃ mana indriyamarthasvarūpagrāhijñānaṃ janayatīti brūmaḥ, api tvasaddṛṣṭilakṣaṇāvidyāparipanthikṣaṇikanairātmyalakṣaṇasarvavastutattvabhāvanāsahitam | na ca vahnitvaṃ sarvavastutattvam, kiṃ tu kṣaṇikanairātmyameveti kṣaṇabhaṅgaprasādhanataḥ pratipāditamiti | kiṃ ca svamanīṣāparikalpitaḥ khalvayamanuimitabhāvitavahniviṣayaviśadaḥ pratyayaḥ | na punarasya loke saṃbhavaḥ | tathā hi niṣprayojanamanunmatto na kaścidbhāvayati | prayojanaṃ ca śiśirabharamantharakāyakāṇḍasyāpi dāhādimātrameva, taccānumitenaiva vahninā taddeśopasarpaṇāt sidhyati | anupasarpaṇe bhāvanāvaiyarthyam | purastāttu bhāvite parisphurati tadarthāpekṣayā bhrāntiḥ prāsarpakasyevetyādyupahāsyamapyasya kṣatātmano durnītipūtigavībhakṣaṇādhmātajaradgomāyorudgāra iva satāmasahyaḥ |



yadapi tato'nantaramāśaṅkayārthasyālambanapratyayatvamindriyāpekṣitvena vyāptamiti prasādhitam, tatpūrvameva pratyuktam | tathā bhāvanāyāścetyādyāśaṅkayārthasyālambanapratyayatvamaśakyāvagamamiti yaduktaṃ tadapyasambaddham |



cakṣurindriyasyāpyarthamantareṇa dvicandrakeśoṇḍukādau viśadabhrāntajñānajananasāmarthyamupalabdhamityarthasahitamapi kevalameva samartham | ato ghaṭāderapyālambanapratyayatvamaśakyāvagamamiti indriyapratyakṣamapi pratihataṃ syāditi | tathā, api cālambanapratyayā api ta eva yujyanta ityādirna punarvikalpanirmāṇapratibandhateti paryanto vyarthaḥ | asmābhirevaṃvidhasya prastute'nabhyupagatatvāt | ata eva tasmādbhāvanāprakarṣamātrajatvāt, arthāvyabhicāraniyamābhāvāt, viśadābhamapi saṃśayākrāntatvāt, apramāṇamapratyakṣaṃ ceti sāmpratamityupasaṃhāro'pi dhikkāraḥ| sarveṣāmeva hetūnāmasiddhatvāt | bhāvanābalajasyārthādapyutpatterindriyapratyakṣavat | sadarthaprakāśanaṃ buddheḥ svabhāva ityādyasmākamapi manoharam | bhāvanāyāśca sāmānyena sphuṭābhajñānahetutvaṃ sādhyate | pramāṇopapannacaturāryasatyaviṣayaniṣṭhāyāṃ tu sāmarthyāt pratyakṣapramāṇahetutāpi sādhyate | ata eva kāminīpratibhāsasyāpramāṇatve'pyapratyakṣatve'pi sphuṭābhatvasya sādhyadharmasāmānyasya saṃbhavāt na viruddho hetuḥ | nāpi dṛṣṭāntasya sādhyaśūnyateti | na ca nairātmyadṛṣṭiḥ saṃbhavadbādhā, arthādutpatterabhūtārthatvābhāvāt |



śrutānumitaviṣayaṃ pratyakṣaṃ na saṃbhavatotyapyayuktam | āgamānumānayordvividho viṣayaḥ grāhyo'dhyavaseyaśca | tatra grāhyaḥ svākāraḥ, adhyavaseyastu pāramārthikavastusvalakṣaṇātmā | asya ca parokṣatve'numānasāmagrīsaṃbhave'numānaviṣayatvam , pratyakṣasāmagrīsaṃbhave ca krameṇa pratyakṣaviṣayatvaṃ dṛṣṭameva | tatsiddhamityādyupasaṃhāro'pi paryākula eva | apramāṇatvāditi hetuśca prathamo'siddhaḥ | bhāvanābalajasyārthādapyutpatteḥ, pramāṇaśaktisaṃbhavāt, indriyapratyakṣavat | bhāvanābalajatvāditi dvitīyastu sandigdhavyatirekitvādanaikāntikaḥ | tathā yathānumitabhāvitavahniviṣayaviśadajñānamiti dṛṣṭānto'pyasaṃbhavīti pratipāditam | bhavatu vā, tathāpi yogijñānasya tena saha tulyahetutvamasiddham | taddhi pramāṇadṛṣṭavastubhāvanāmātrajam | yogijñānaṃ tu avidyāpratipakṣasarvavastutattvabhāvanāviṣayābhyāmutpannamiti mahāntamapi viśeṣamasau durmatiprapātapatito nāvagāhata ityupekṣaṇīyaḥ ||



nyāyaprakīrṇe tu mārgastāvat pramāṇapariśuddho na bhavatītyuktaṃ yat, tat tatprasādhakapramāṇenaiva pratyuktam |



yaccāpi cetyādyārabhya yogijñānaṃ nirviṣayaṃ prasaktamityuktam tatra keyaṃ nirviṣayatā nāma | kiṃ vikalpākāranivṛttau nirākāratā, arthākārādvisadṛśākāratā, atha tadākāratve'pi tadvastusaṃsparśitā |

yaccāpi cetyādi na yuktaṃ paśyāma itiparyantena dūṣaṇamuktam, tadapyasaṃgatam | tathā hi yādṛśa eva bhāvyagrāhī pratyayaḥ prathamo niranvayo niruddhastādṛśa evāpara utpadyata iti niyamaniścayakāraṇaṃ na kiñcidasti caṇḍadevatāsparśādanyat, kṣaṇikatvāditi cet | nanu kṣaṇikatvaṃ sthāyitayā virudhyate na visadṛśotpādena, taddhi prācīnaṃ niranvayanirodhe yathā sadṛśakṣaṇāntaramārabhate tathā svahetugatasāmarthyayogāt kāryotpādānumeyād yadi viśeṣaleśaviśiṣṭaṃ kṣaṇāntaramutpādayati, tadā na kācit kṣatiḥ | na hi bhavata iva bhāvasyāpi kṣaṇikatāyāṃ pradveṣo nāma | tasmānna kṣaṇikatvottaraviśiṣṭakṣaṇajanakatvayorvirodha iti nāpārthako'bhyāsaḥ |



yaccedaṃ kiñcetyādinā kṣaṇikatve cittamavikṣiptamāveditam, tadapyasādhu | nairātmyāditattvaparā(ṅ) mukhasya sarvasyaiva vikṣiptatvāt | bhāvanābalena tattvasākṣātkāriṇaḥ samāhitatvāt | atha ca tattvasākṣātkriyālābhāt grāhakākārāvagraha saṃbhavāt(ca) vyāvahārikamapi vikṣiptamasti cittam | yato mamaiva doṣakṣayo bhāvīti mārgāmyāsapravṛttirabhyāhateti | paramārthataḥ prāpyādīnāmabhāve'pi tatsaṃkalpasyaivānādyavidyāprabhāvitasya sarvatra pravartakatvāt | ata eva mārgasatyābhyāsāt siddhaḥ sarvajñaḥ |



nyāyabhūṣaṇasyāpi yogācārāpekṣayā dūṣaṇamaprastutam | bahirarthāmyupagamenaiva sādhanaprakramāt | yaccoktam tathāpyatītānāgataviṣayatvaṃ katham, na hyasataḥ kaścidākāro'stīti, tadetat prastāvānavagāhanaphalam | upayuktasarvajñādhikāreṇa hi sarvakṣaṇikanirātmakavastubhāvanopakṣeṇaḥ, na sarvasarvajñāpekṣayā | tato'tītānāgatamapratīyamānamapi na bādhakam | tāvataiva duḥkhanirodhasiddheḥ | parasmai ca kṣaṇikatvādini(ṣṭha)kasya deśanāvatārāt | na ca sarvasarvajñahastakatyāgaḥ | tathā hi caturāryasatyasākṣātkāraprāptau nirāvaraṇāntaḥ karaṇasya kāruṇyātiśayāt sarvākāraparārthaparatayā sakalagocaracāriṇi cetasi ciravirūḍhotsāhasya tādṛgupāyaviśeṣādhigamo bhaviṣyati, yamanutiṣṭhatastadutpattimantareṇāpi devatādhipatyāt satyasvapnavat | pratiparamāṇusarvaviṣayaṃ yathā deśakālākārapratyavasthānukāri sphuṭataraṃ jñānamudiyāt, tadā na tāvadvastuvyabhicārakṛtaṃ visaṃvāditvam, vastūnāmeva pratibhāsanāt | utpattisārūpyābhyāṃ vedyasthitiriti tu pṛthagjanāpekṣayā | yoginastu sārūpyamātreṇaiva grahaṇamiti nyāyaḥ |

tadevaṃ bhāvibhūtayorajanakayorapi yogijñāne sphuraṇamabādhyam | bhāvibhūtayostarhi yadi svarūpasya sphuraṇam, vartamānataiva syāt | atha svarūpasannihitaṃ jñānameva tadākāramiti nirālambanaṃ niyamena | tadapi nāsti | yasmādasannihite'pyarthe bhāvanābalāt taddeśakālākārānukāri vijñānaṃ kathamanālambanam | tathātvenādhyavasāyācca, adhyavasitakālaviśiṣṭasyaiva satyasvapnavattasya prāpteḥ |

jñānamātrasya tu tattvataḥ sphuraṇācca na vartamānatāprasaṅgaḥ saṅgataḥ | tathā kṣaṇikatvapakṣe'pi ekatvādhyāropasāmarthyānna vyavahārikaṃ prati pramāṇasya kācit kṣatiriti śāstre prapañcitam |



yadapi kiñcedamapi vaktumucitamityādyārabhya bhāvanābalajasyānumānapūrvakatve'pi pratyakṣapūrvakatve'pi vyabhicārābhidhānam, tadarthādapi bhāvanābalajasya sākṣādutpattisvīkārādapahastitam | yathendriyajasyāpi dvicandrādijñānasyārthādanutpatteraprāmāṇyam, arthendriyābhyāmutpattau tu prāmānyamevaṃ pramāṇapūrvakasyāpi bhāvanāmātrādutpannasyāprāmāṇyam, bhāvanārthābhyāmutpannasya tu prāmāṇyam |



yadi yogijñānasyārthādutpattiḥ, pramāṇapūrvakatvāpekṣayā na kiñcatprayojanamiti ceta | na deśakālavastuviśeṣamapāsya sāmānyena sarvadikkālavartivastumātraṃ kṣaṇikanirātmakamityaniścaye mahāprayāsasādhyapuruṣāyuṣavyāpinyāṃ bhāvanāyāmeva pravṛtterabhāvāt | na ca hāliko havyāśanamanumāya sphuṭīkarotiyena pratyakṣāntaratvaprasaṅgaḥ | asāmarthyavaiyarthyābhyāṃ tadasaṃbhavapratipādanāt |



yadapyuktaṃ yogino jñānamindriyajñānādabhinnaṃ bhinnaṃ vā | tatra prathamapakṣe tāvanna vastudoṣaḥ | tādṛkpuruṣaviśeṣasya siddhatvāt | vyavasthādūṣaṇamapi nāsti | sādhyatayaiva tādṝgdaśāviśeṣasya lokātikrāntātiśayasya paramapuruṣārtharūpasya sādhanaviśeṣapratipādanāya pṛthagjanasādhāraṇendriyajñānād bhedena nirdeśāt | paramapuruṣārthaviṣayatvābhāvādeva ca rasāyanādisaṃskārajasyāpi jñānasya na pratyakṣāntaratā | bhedapakṣe'pi na tāvat stharyetarasphuraṇakṛtopālambhasaṃbhavaḥ | indriyajñānenāpi vastu sarvātmanā gṛhṇatā truṭyadrūpasyaiva grahaṇāt | adhyavasāyo hi pūrvaṃ durllabhaḥ idānīṃ tu bhāvanābalanirdalitāvidye cittasantāne so'pīndriyajñānena janyata iti viśeṣaḥ |



nanu yogino manovijñānendriyajñānābhyāṃ paśyata ākāradvayasphuraṇaprasaṅga iti cet | satyam | satyajñānākārastāvad vastuno na bhinnadeśo'nyatarabhrāntiprasaṅgāt | atastāvākārāvapratimau kayā gatyā sphuarata iti ko nirṇetuṃ kṣamaḥ | yadāha

atrocyate | kimete jñeyatvādayaḥ sarvajñatvena sākṣādviruddhāḥ paramparayā vā | aviruddhavidhāne pratiṣedhāyogāt | sa ca sākṣād virodha parasparaparihārasthitilakṣaṇo vā, bhāvābhāvavat; sahānavasthānalakṣaṇo vā, dahanatuhinavaditi |



na tāvadādyaḥ pakṣaḥ | yadvyavacchedanāntarīyako yasya paricchedastayoreva parasparaparihārasthitilakṣaṇo virodhaḥ | na ca jñeyatvādi sarvajñatvavyavacchedena sthitam | kiṃ tarhi | ajñeyatvādivyavacchedena | tathā sarvajñatvamasarvajñatvavyavacchedena, na tu jñeyatvavyavacchedena |



nāpi dvitīyo virodhaḥ | yasya hyavikalakāraṇasya bhavato yatsannidhānādabhāvastayoreva sahānavasthānalakṣaṇo virodhaḥ | na ca sarvajñatvaṃ prāk pravṛttamavikalakāraṇaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ yena paścājjñeyatvādisadbhāve nivartata iti syāt | tathātve sati deśādiniṣedya eva bhavenna tu sarvathoccheda iti |



na ca paramparayā virodhaḥ | sa hi bhavan niṣedhyasya sarvajñatvasya vyāpakaviruddhatvāt, kāraṇaviruddhatvāt, kāryaviruddhatvāt, svabhāvaviruddhakāryatvāt, vyāpakaviruddhakāryatvāt, kāraṇaviruddhakāryatvāt, kāryaviruddhakāryatvāt, svabhāvaviruddhavyāptatvāt, vyāpakaviruddhavyāptatvāt, kāraṇaviruddhavyāptatvāt, kāryaviruddhavyāptatvād vā bhaved | tatra sarvajñatvasyāsattvāt , vyāpakakāraṇakāryāṇāmasiddhestadviruddhakāryavyāpyābhāvāt na prameyatvādayaḥ sarvajñatvena paramparayāpi viruddhāḥ |



nanu vaktṛtvaṃ virudhyata eva sarvaviṣayanirvikalpajñānaviruddhavikalpakāryatvād vaktṛtvasya | naitad yuktam | savikalpāvikalpayoryugapadavṛttervikalpakatvena sarvajñasyāvirodhāt |



kastarhi pṛthagjanādasya bheda iti cet | ucyate | yathā māyākāro nirmitāśvādiviṣayaṃ vijñānaṃ nirviṣayatvena niścinvannabhrāntaḥ, tadanyasmācca śreṣṭhaḥ, tathā bhagavānapi śuddhalaukikavikalpasammukhībhāve'pi na bhrānto nāpi pṛthagjanasamāna iti | tataśca nirvikalpakasarvajñajñānavikalpayorvirodhābhāvād vaktṛtvaṃ sarvajñatvena sahāviruddhameva ||



etenaidapi nirastam yadāha kāśikākāraḥ, samādhervyutthāyopadekṣyata iti cet | na | vyutthitasya hyabhilāpinī pratītibhrāntabhāṣitamapramāṇaṃ bhavediti ||

yadā copadiśedekaṃ kiñcitsāmānyavaktṛvat |

ekadeśajñagītaṃ tanna syātsarvajñabhāṣitam ||



tadapi nirastam, vikalpenaikasya kasyacidāmukhīkṛtvopadeśe'pi nirvikalpena sarvamavabudhyamānasya vacanānāṃ sarvajñabhāṣitatvādeva ||

tasmin dhyānasamādhisthe cintāratnavadāsthite |

niścaranti yathākāmaṃ kuḍyādibhyo'pi deśanāḥ ||

tābhirjijñāsitānarthān sarvān jānanti mānavāḥ |

hitāni ca yathāyogaṃ kṣipramāsādayanti te ||

ityādi kīrtamānaṃ tu śraddadhānasya śobhate |

vayamaśraddadhānāstu ye yuktīrarthayāmahe ||



kuḍyādiniḥsṛtānāṃ ca na syādāptopadiṣṭatā |

viśvāsaśca na tāsu syātkenaitāḥ kīrtitā iti ||

kinnu buddhapraṇītāḥ syuḥ kiṃ vā brāhyaṇavañcakaiḥ |

krīḍadbhirupadiṣṭāḥ syurdūrasthapratiśabdakaiḥ ||

kiṃ vā kṣudrapiśācādyairadṛṣṭaiḥ parikalpitāḥ |

tasmānna tāsu viśvāsaḥ kartavyaḥ prājñamānibhiḥ ||



etadapyanabhyupagamenaiva nirastam | śuddhalaukikavikalpasaṃmukhībhāvenaiva tasya deśakatvābhyupagamāditi ||



atha vā yathā cakrasyoparate'pi daṇḍapreraṇāvyāpāre pūrvāvegavaśād bhramaṇam | evaṃ bhagavati pratyastamitasamastavikalpajāle'pi sthite yadi pūrvapraṇidhānāhitasatatānābhogavāhinī deśanā syāttadā ko virodhaḥ | vivakṣābhāve kathaṃ vacanapravṛttiriti na vaktavyam | tadabhāve'pi nidrāṇasya tattatpravyaktavacanasandarśanāt | vacanamātrasya vivakṣayā vyāpterabhāvāt | tasmād yathā pūrvābhyāsato jhaṭiti prabodhitasyāriṇā prahārādidānenānurūpa eva prakramaḥ śastroddharaṇādikaḥ, tathā sarvavedinopi sakalāḥ kalāḥ ityanākulam |

śatrusānnidhyamātreṇa pravartante'vikalpataḥ |

prāgeva tannirākāriprakramāḥ kopanirmitāḥ ||

saṃbhinnālāpahiṃsādikutsitārthopadarśanam |

krīḍāśīlapiśācādeḥ kāryaṃ tāsu na vidyate ||

pramāṇadvayasaṃvādi mataṃ tadviṣaye'khile |

yasya bādhā pramāṇābhyāmaṇīyasyapi nekṣate ||

yathātyantaparokṣe'pi na pūrvāparabādhitam |

karuṇādiguṇotpatteḥ sarvapuṃsāṃ pravartakam ||

sarvānuśayasaṃdohapratipakṣābhidhāyakam |

nirvāṇanagaradṣvārakapāṭapuṭabhedanam ||

taccet krīḍanaśīlānāṃ rakṣasāṃ vā vaco bhavet |

ta eva santu saṃbuddhāḥ sarvatallakṣaṇasthiteḥ ||



na ca nāmni vivādaḥ | na ca nāmanivṛttau vastu nivartate | pratyuta vedasyaiva krīḍanaśīlapiśācādipraṇītatvaṃ yuktaṃ saṃbhāvayitum | yena gośavādiṣu yogeṣvagamyāgamanādayo'satyasamudācārāḥ saṃprakāśitāḥ | lokaprasiddhiśca



trayo vedasya kartāro munibhaṇḍaniśācarāḥ |



iti alamatinirbandhena ||



nanu sarvajñatvaṃ vītarāgaditvena vyāptamiṣyate | tadviruddhaṃ ca rāgādiyogitvam, tatkāryaṃ ca vacanam | tadetad vyāpakaviruddhakāryabhūtaṃ vacanaṃ sarvajñābhāvaṃ sādhayati paramparayā viruddhatvāditi cet | na | rāgādīnāṃ vacasaśca kāryakāraṇabhāvāsiddheḥ | tathā hi vacanaviśeṣo rāgādikāryam, yo rāgeṇaiva janitaḥ, vacanamātraṃ vā |



tatra na tāvat prathamaḥ pakṣaḥ | tādṛśasya vacanasya niścayopāyāsaṃbhavāt | asabhyamaithunācāraprakāśakaṃ vacanaṃ tatkāryamiti cet | na | abhiprāyasya durlakṣyatvāt | virakto'pi raktavacceṣṭate, rakto'pi viraktavadityabhiprāyo durbodhaḥ | tataśca viśiṣṭavyavahārasya sāṃkaryeṇa na tatraikāntena rāgānumānaṃ yujyate | nāpi vacanamātraṃ rāgādikāryam | asaṃmukhībhūtarāgādayo'pi hi svābhimatadevatāstutividhāne mātrādigurujanasaṃbhāṣaṇādau ca vacanamātramuccārayantaḥ samupalabhyante | na ca yadyadabhāve bhavati tasya tatkāryatocyate, atiprasaṅgāt | rāgādiyogyatā tarhi vacasaḥ kāraṇam, tayā vinopalakhaṇḍalādau vacanasyādarśanāditi cenna | karaṇaguṇavaktukāmate hi vacanasya hetuḥ | tadabhāvādevopalakhaṇḍalādau nivartate, na rāgādiyogyatāyā abhāvāt | yadi kāraṇaguṇādisakalatadanyakāraṇabhāve'pi rāgādi yogyatā'bhāvānnotpadyate vacanamiti sidhyettasyāḥ kāraṇatvam | upalakhaṇḍalādau tu vaktukāmatā nāsti | tatkathaṃ tatkāraṇatvaṃ vacasāmiti | evaṃ tarhi vaktukāmataiva rāgo'stu | iṣṭatvānna kiñcid bādhitaṃ syāt, nāmni vivādābhāvāt | paramārthataḥ punarnityasukhātmātmīyadarśanākṣiptaṃ sāśravaviṣayaṃ cetaso'bhiṣvaṅgaṃ rāgamāhuḥ |



niṣpannasarvasampattervivakṣāpi na yujyata iti cet | adoṣo'yam, parārthatvādvivakṣāyāḥ | vītarāge'rthāsaṅgābhāvāt kathaṃ parārthāpi pravṛttiriti cet | na | āsaṅgamantareṇa karuṇayāpi pravṛtteḥ |



saiva rāga iti cet | iṣṭatvādadoṣaḥ |

rāgasya tu svarūpamuktam |



kāruṇikasyāpi niṣphalārambho na yukta iti cet | na | parārthasyaiva phalatvāt | iṣṭalakṣaṇatvāt phalasyeti yatkiñcidetat |



nanu nirvikalpasya bhagavataḥ kathaṃ tasyāmavasthāyāṃ karuṇāsaṃbhavaḥ | duḥkhavikalpaprabhavā hi karuṇetyanvayavyatirekābhyāmanyatvena niścitam |



tataśca kāraṇābhāvāt kathaṃ kāryasaṃbhava iti cet | na | yathā kumbhakāranivṛttāvapi svasantānamātrabhāvinī ghaṭādisthitistathotthāpakavikalpābhāve'pi sama(na) ntarapratyayabalādanālambanakaruṇāpravṝtteravāryatvāt | yadāhurguravaḥ



sattāropakṛto'pi bhāvanavaśāt kāṭhinyamāpattathā

śaithilye'pi yathāsya duḥkhahataye sāndrastathaiva śramaḥ |

utpāde tu phalasya hetuniyamo no tu prabandhasthitau

tasmād duḥkhadṛśaḥ kṣaye'pi vilasanmaitryādaye'smai namaḥ ||



etenaitadapi nirastaṃ yadāha kārikāyām

rāgādirahite cāsmin nirvyāpāre vyavasthite |

deśanānyapraṇītaiva syādṛte pratyavekṣaṇāt ||



nanu yadi nāmaivaṃ vaktṛtvaṃ sarvajñatvena sahāviruddhaṃ dehendriyabuddhyādiyogitvaṃ tu viruddhameva | sarvajñatāvyāpakavītarāgatvaviruddharāgādikāraṇatvāddehādīnām |



tataśca pratiṣedhyavyāpakaviruddhakāraṇopalambhāt sarvajñābhāva iti cet | ucyate | dehādīnāṃ hetutve'pi naiṣāṃ kevalānāṃ sahakārimātrāṇāmātmābhiniveśalakṣaṇopādānakāraṇavikalānāṃ rāgādijanakatvamityagamakā eva dehādayaḥ sarvajñābhāvasya | tasmāj jñeyatvādīnāmapyasāmarthyānna paraparikalpitānumānato'pi sarvajñābhāvaḥ |



nāpi svavikalpitaṃ śābdādikaṃ bhagavato bādhakam | tathā hi yadyapi teṣāṃ sati prāmāṇye'numāna evāntarbhāvaḥ, anantarbhāve cāprāmāṇyameveti sthūlaṃ dūṣaṇamasti, tathāpi tatprāmāṇyamabhyupagamyāpi brūmaḥ | yattāvat pauruṣeyavacanaṃ tadapramāṇameva bhavatām | na ca vaidikaṃ kiñcidvacanaṃ sarvanarāsarvajñatvapratipādaka mupalabhyate | pratyuta nimittanāmni śākhāntare sphuṭatarameva sarvajñaḥ pratipāditaḥ | tathā hi



sa vetti viśvaṃ na ca tasya vettā

ityādinā ca sarvajño vede pratipāditaḥ ||



nāpyupamānāttadabhāvaḥ sidhyati | tathā hi smaryamāṇameva gavādivastu purovartigavayādisādṛśyopādhi gavādyupādhi vā sādṛśyamupamānena pratīyata iti sthitiḥ | na ca sarvajñasantānavartīni cetāṃsi kenacit sarvajñenānubhūtāni yataḥ smaraṇena viṣayīkriyeran, paracittavitterayogāt ||

narān dṛṣṭvā tvasarvajñān sarvānevādhunātanān |

tatsādṛśyopamānena śeṣāsarvajñaniścayaḥ ||

nāpyarthāpattirbādhikā | yato dṛṣṭaḥ śruto vā'rtho'nyathā nopapadyata iti adṛṣṭārthaṃparikalpanamarthāpattirucyate | na cāsarvajñatvamantareṇa sarvanareṣu kaścidartho dṛṣṭaḥ śruto vā nopapadyate yatastadarthāpattyā parikalpyeta | nanu saṃsārasya tāvadanāditvaṃ pramāṇena pratītam | tacca na sarvajñena jñāyate, tajjñānāvadheḥ parastādasattve'nāditākṣatiprasaṅgāt, tadanyathānupapadyamānaṃ sarvabhāvānāmanāditvaṃ sarvajñābhāvaṃ sādhayatīti cet |

na cābhāvapramāṇabādhyaḥ sarvajñaḥ | pramāṇapañcakanivṛttirabhāvapramāṇamiṣyate | tatra nivṛttiriti prasajyavṛttyā pramāṇānutpattimātramabhipretam, atha vā paryudāsavṛttyā vastvantaram, vastvantaramapi jaḍarūpaṃ jñānarūpaṃ vā, jñānamapi jñānamātram, ekajñānasaṃsargivastujñānaṃ veti vikalpāḥ |



tatra na tāvannivṛttimātrabhāvapramāṇamupapadyate | tatkhalu nikhilaśaktivikalatayā na kiñcit | yacca na kiñcit tatkathaṃ prameyaṃ paricchindyāt, tadviṣayaṃ vā vijñānaṃ janayet, pratītaṃ vā tatkathamiti sarvamandhakāranartanam | yathoktam



na hyabhāvaḥ kasyacitpratipattiḥ pratipattiheturvā | tasyāpi vā kathaṃ pratipattiriti |



nāpi vastvantaratāpakṣe jaḍarūpaḥ pramāṇābhāvaḥ saṃgacchate, tasya prameyaparicchedāyogāt | paricchedasya jñānadharmatvāt | nāpi jñānamātrasvabhāvo'bhāvaḥ | deśakālasvabhāvaviprakṛṣṭasyāpi tato'bhāvaprasaṅgāt | tadapekṣayāpi vijñānamātratvāt tasya | athaikajñānasaṃsargisvabhāvo'numanyate, tadā kṣatamabhāvapramāṇapratyāśayā, adhyakṣaviśeṣasyaivābhāvapramāṇanāmakaraṇāt | tasya cāsmābhirdṛśyānupalambhākhyasādhanatvena svīkṛtatvāt | dṛśyānupalambhaśca bhagavadabhāvasādhane'samartha iti pūrvamevāveditam |



kiṃ ca, kaḥ punarayaṃ pramāṇābhāvo'bhimato bhavatām | svapramāṇagaṇanivṛttiratha sarvaprāṇigaṇapramāṇanivṛttiḥ | tatra svapramāṇagaṇanivṛttirvyabhicāriṇī, tasyāṃ satyāmapi vyavahitasyārthasyāna pahnavatvāt | parapramāṇanivṛttistvasarvavido'siddhā | yadāha



sarvādṛṣṭiśca sandigdhā svādṛṣṭirvyabhicāriṇī |

vindhyādrirandhradūrvāderadṛṣṭāvapi sattvataḥ || iti ||



tadevaṃ nābhāvapramāṇato'pi sarvajñaniṣedha iti sthitam ||



nanu tathāpi sadvyavahārārthaṃ sādhakamapyasya na vidyate | tathā hi sarvavido'tīndriyatvāt na tāvadasmadādipratyakṣamasya sādhakam | yathā cāsmābhirasau nopalabhyate tathāsmajjātīyairapyapratyakṣasvabhāvaniyamāt | na cāyaṃ kālāntare'bhūditi ca kalpanā yujyate | yathā hi kālatvādidānīntanakālavaditi anenānumānena nirākartuṃ śakyate, na tathā sādhayitum |

kiṃ ca sarvajñasattāsādhane sarvo hetuḥ trayīṃ doṣajātiṃ nātivartate asiddhatvaṃ viruddhatvamanaikāntikatvaṃ ceti | tathā hi sarvajñe dharmiṇi kriyamāṇe na taddharmo hetuḥ siddhaḥ | tasyaiva dharmiṇaḥ sādhyatvenāsiddhatvāt | siddhau vā vaiyarthyaprasaṅgāt | asarvajñe dharmiṇi na sarvajñasiddhiḥ | hetoḥ sarvajñaviparītasādhanatvena viruddhatvāt | nāpi sarvajñāsarvajñadharmo hetuḥ | tasyānaikāntikatvāt | tasmānnānumānato'pi sarvajñasiddhiḥ |

dṛṣṭo na caikadeśo'sti liṅgaṃ yo vānumāpayet | iti ||



nāpyāgamagamyaḥ | āgamo hi dvividhaḥ pauruṣeyo nityaśca | tatra pauruṣeyopyāgamaḥ tadīyo vā tatra pramāṇam, narāntarapraṇīto vā | na tāvattadīyaḥ | anyo'nyasaṃśrayāpatteḥ | tathā hyāgamasya sarvajñoktatve prāmāṇyam | asya ca prāmāṇye satyasmāt sarvajñasiddhiriti | narāntarapraṇītastu pramāṇatvenānabhimata evetyato'pi na sarvajñasiddhiḥ ||



kiṃ ca sarvajñapraṇītādvacanāt sarvajñasiddhau kimaparāddhaṃ svavacanena yenāto'pyasau na gamyeta | nāpi nityāgamagamyaḥ sarvajñaḥ, tathāvidhasya sarvajñapratipādakasya nityāgamasyābhāvāt | yaccopaniṣadādau sarvajñapratipādakavākyaṃ tasyānyārthatvaṃ draṣṭavyam | na ca nityavākyasyānityasarvajñatvapratipādakatvam, nirviṣayatvaprasaṅgāt |



kiṃ ca yadyaṅgīkṛto nityāgamaḥ, kiṃ sarvajñakalpanayā, nitya evāgamo dharme pramāṇaṃ bhaviṣyati |

na cāgamena sarvajñastadīye'nyonyasaṃśrayāt |

narāntarapraṇītasya prāmāṇyaṃ gamyate katham ||

na cāpyevaṃ paro nityaḥ śakyo labdhumihāgamaḥ |

dṛṣṭaścedarthavādatvaṃ tatpare syādanityatā ||

āgamasya ca nityatve siddhe tatkalpanā vṛthā |

yatastaṃ pratipatsyante dharmameva tato narāḥ |



bṛhaṭṭīkāpi

na cāgamavidhiḥ kaścinnityaḥ sarvajñabodhakaḥ |



ityādi saptacatvāriṃśat ślokāḥ saprapañcametamarthaṃ pratipādayanti | tadevamāgamato'pi na sarvajñasiddhiḥ |



nāpyupamānapramāṇasamadhigamyaḥ | upamānaṃ hi sadṛśagrahaṇanāntarīyakapravṛttika masannikṛṣṭārthagocaram | yathā gavayagrahaṇadvāreṇa goḥ smaraṇam | na ca sarvajñasadṛśaḥ kaścidasti |



kārikā

sarvajñasadṛśaṃ kañcid yadi paśyema samprati |

upamānena sarvajñaṃ jānīyāmastato vayam ||



nāpyarthāpattitaḥ sarvajñasiddhiḥ | dṛṣṭaḥ śruto vārtho'nyathā nopapadyate iti adṝṣṭārthaparikalpanamarthāpattilakṣaṇam | na cātra pramāṇapratītaṃ kiñcid vastvasti yatsarvajñamantareṇānupapadyamānaṃ tatsattāmupanayet | tannārthāpattirapi sarvajñasādhanī |



na ca pramāṇapañcakābhāvasvabhāvādabhāvapramāṇādasya siddhiḥ, vastvabhāvasādhanatvādasya | pratyutāyamevāsyābhāvaṃ sādhayatīti pratipāditam | yadapīdaṃ kārikābṛhaṭṭīkayorekaṣaṣṭyā ślokaiḥ sarvajñasiddhaye bauddhasya sādhanamāśaṅkaya dūṣitaṃ tadapi ghṛṇākaramiti granthavistarabhayānna likhitam |



tathā hyetāni kila saugataiḥ sarvajñasādhanāya sādhanānyabhidhīyante sarvajño'stīti satyam,



sarvajñoktatvāt, dharmābhyupadeśakatvāt, buddhaḥ sarvajña iti cirapravṛttadṛḍhasmṛteḥ, prathamataramaśeṣaśiṣyajanavargasyānekavidhacittacaittādiparijñānāt, sakalapadārtharāśitattvopadeśāditi ||



tasmāt sthitametat nātīndriyadarśī sākṣādasti, api tu nityavacanadvāreṇaiva tasya darśanamiti | tadevaṃ sarvathā sarvajñasādhakapramāṇāsabhavādayukto bauddhānāṃ sarvajñe sadvyavahāra iti ||



atrocyate | anumānādanyato'siddhau siddhasādhanam | anumānādapītyasiddham, anumānasya pūrvamuktatvāt | tatpratibaddhaliṅgāniścayādityādidūṣaṇaprabandho'pi prativyūḍha ityupayuktasarvajñastāvat trailokyālokaḥ siddhaḥ |



sarvasarvajñapakṣe'pīdaṃ sādhanam |



yatpramāṇasaṃvādiniścitārthavacanaṃ tatsākṣātparamparā(vā) tadarthasākṣātkārijñānapūrvakam |



yathā dahano dāhaka iti vacanam |



pramāṇasaṃvādi niścitārthavacanaṃ cedam |



kṣaṇikāḥ sarvajñasaṃskārā ityarthataḥ kāryahetuḥ | nāsyāsiddhiḥ, sarvabhāvakṣaṇabhaṅgaprasādhanādasya vacanasya satyārthatvāt | nāpi virodhaḥ, sapakṣe bhāvāt | na cānaikāntikaḥ, vacanamātrasya saṃśayaviparyāsapūrvakatve'pi pramāṇaniścitārthavacanasya sākṣātpāramparyeṇa tadarthasākṣātkārijñānapūrvakatvāt | anyathā niyamena pramāṇasaṃvādāyogāt ||



ayaṃ ca bhāṣyakārīyaḥ sarvasarvajñaprasādhakaprayogaḥ paṇḍitajitāribhiḥ prapañcita iti tata eva pracayato'badhārya iti |



duarvāraprativādivikramamanādṛtya pramāprauḍhitaḥ

sarvajño jagadekacakṣurudagādeṣa prabhāvo'tra ca |

saṃbuddhasthitimedinīkulagirerasmadguroḥ kintvayaṃ

saṃkṣepo mama ratnakīrtikṛtinastadvistaratrāsinaḥ ||



viśvamastu śubhādasmād yathecchaṃ ratimanmathaḥ |

mañjuvajraśca paryante tatpādaṃ satphalapradam ||



ahañca mañjuvajraḥ syāṃ mañjughoṣo'tha mañjuvāk |

mañjuśrīrva(ā) dirāṇmañjukumāro jinadhūrdharaḥ ||
